GuestJust wanted to let everyone know that a lost and forgotten film with a danny score will be released to dvd on september 16! It is Article 99. I was out of the country when the film came out to theaters and by the time I got home, most video stors didnt even have it! So, I have only been able to catch bits and pieces of it whenever i come across it on cable. I have liked the parts of the film I have seen, but since I have never even caught it in the first 45 minutes, I just watch a few seconds, then change it, an unfortunately, the scenes I have seen have either had no music or songs, none of Danny’s score! Anyway, I will be buying the DVD basically sight unseen, just to hear the score! Am I a freak? Probably. but, oh, well. I’m suire there are others of you who have done the same thing.
Later!

Guestit’s got a pretty main theme…. which for some reason reminds me of Goldsmith’s theme to Rudy, as i’m remembering it…
the score as a whole is rather disjointed – which doesn’t make it un-enjoyable to listen to… it’s just…uneven. There’s one track which sounds a lot like Nightmare Before Christmas… there’s some military-ish music…. and some that’s a kinda cross between Beetlejuice and something …jazzy? man it’s been awhile since i’ve listened to the score, but i used to play it all the time…
need to dust it off and listen to it again.so, that’s my recollection, anyways….
as far as the film goes, i’ve only seen bits and pieces… it didn’t seem too great, though… and if the music is any indication – i’m thinking the movie is rather uneven in tone and pacing as well…

GuestI have a semi-subjective view on it: not the “best” score Danny’s written. There are certainly well-scored moments but the mix of styles is just too jarring and often just doesn’t quite fit the tone of the movie. Having said that, I didn’t find the film itself rivetting – a very slight M*A*S*H* rip-off hidden in there somewhere. Hope that doesn’t spoil your viewing of the movie.
