Well, not to go and camp on his lawn but to mail him (but I don’t think too many people WOULD camp on his lawn). Maybe I could contact his agency and fake that I am a professional interveiwer so I could talk to him….nah, that would be stupid (hehehe). But I don’t mail anyone because I don’t think they liked to be bugged with the whole “You are great! So Great! My favorite! And so sexy! Woohoo!” babble, since alot of people think that they are NOT the best (yes, even Elfman). So they just think you are weird. Anyway….what was I talking about? Oh yeah, juju doesn’t scare me, and I love weird stuff, so if in some weird universe I got to kick it with the Elfman, I would be more than happy too (although I am MUCH more interested in his massive percussion collection). So blah

Yeah, I’ve honestly never written any fanmail before, and given the fact that I”m past the adolescent “raging hormones” stage, I don’t think I”ll start now. Elfman’s music is very near and dear to me, but I’m sure he hears about that from others. He knows people like his music, and I don’t think he needs (or wants) me to tell him what he already knows. And besides, he’s not even saucy-looking anymore, so what’s the point? *grins* Just kidding (although I am still fervently hoping for some sort of time warp in which I can go to the Boingo Farewell concert)!

Knight – (and your Arthur-king) – put the butter knife down, man! Put it down before I have to use my bad-ass waterballoon launcher ;-)

I’ve never written fan mail either and since this is slightly relative, I’ll share a little story with you all.

When an announcement was made on a local radio station about the farewell tour, I was pretty devastated, but the words to Jack’s Lament went through my head and I understood. I had been approached earlier about submitting a poem to the college’s annual writing journal and at that moment I decided to write a small tribute to the band. It was published and I was able to read it aloud on the publication day and dedicate it to Boingo.
Then there was the Boingo signing at Sunset Records in Hollywood, following the tour.
I got up the nerve to print out the short poem, draw a little skeleton on it, matte it, and put it in a simple frame to bring along.
After waiting in line at 5:00am and then wandering around until 10:00am to wait in line again for a few hours, I vacillated several times between giving it to him or not. When it was finally my turn to get my video signed, I handed the poem over. He appeared genuinely surprised and grateful. He said thank you and proceeded to read it to himself, smiling. The people behind me pushed me along and as I looked back, he set the poem in his lap and waved at me.
I often wonder if he hung onto it or if it got left behind, but it’s kind of cool to think there just may be a chance he has it, somewhere.

Alright Beth, the suspense is killing me! Do you have it, and can you post in on here? (At the very least email it to those of us who want to read it?)

-E (I want to read Beth’s poem! It made Danny smile, so it has to be good!)

    E

I’m emailing it to you, but don’t expect much. He’s most likely just a nice guy who was humoring a starry eyed dork.
