GuestHi! I’m biggest fan of Batman Returns Score!
And I’v Saw in IMDB.Com The Internet Movie DataBase that in Batman Returns there is music which played in The Nightmare Before Christmas! Is that True!If you something please tell what track from The Nightmare Before Christmas was played in Batman Returns
Here is the Trivia Batman Returns from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103776/triviaDuring the scene where Penguin’s henchmen are wrecking a shop, there is a reprise of the “Making Christmas” theme from Nightmare Before Christmas, The (1993), which Danny Elfman also composed.

GuestNow you come to mention it that theme is used in that cue. I can’t quite remember it matching with that particular place but I’ll take your word for it. Fascinating. But the trivia page is naughty in never giving away its sources, so we won’t know whether this is a canny reviewer’s observation or composer’s deliberate quotation. Mind you, it’s nothing more than a brief reference rather than a track-in of the NMBC score. I’ll have to play the film tonight to see (or hear) if my memory is playing tricks!
NMBC (English version). Track 11. Making Christmas

GuestIf I’m not mistaken, Elfman almost composed NBC and Batman Returns together. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if he deliberatly quoted some parts of his music for the musical in the film. Anyway, both Penguin’s theme and Making Christmas have a very similar structure; that’s another reason why sometimes they almost sound identical…

GuestMaking Christmas and the Penguin theme sound very similar. For that matter, the main theme from Mars Attacks! sounds about the same as well. It’s a lick Danny favored quite a bit for a number of years there. I don’t think he was intentionally making a reference to his other works, it’s just his stamp showing.

GuestNightmare Before Christmas and Batman Returns used a noticeable harp technique called Pres De La Table which makes the harp (especially when played low, ala the Penguin theme) sound very dark and almost banjo like. Danny was also using a lot of xylophone and bassoons on those two scores. It also probably helped that both movies were set in the Holiday season. Edward Bloom is right, the orchestration on both scores was similar because the production of both movies were back to back.
