I know this is not a danny elfman topic but nevertheless, interesting.
Which is your favourite actor from a Tim Burton film?
There are so many I like such as Johnny Depp and Danny DeVito, but I have to say that my personal favourite is Jack Nicholson. He is not just my favourite Burton film actor but of all time aswell. He is brilliant in Batman, brilliant in Mars attacks!
He is the cooloest man alive in my opinion and i’m sure there’s someone out there who agrees, so post in your replies and tell us your favourite acot from a Burton film. Thank you.ElfmanFrEaK

May 29, 2002 at 7:44 pm #40136AnonymousGuestI actually have more fun watching the “background” personalities, and I really think some of the most unappreciated performance comes from Jeffrey Jones:
“Mr. Deitz” in Beetlejuice
“Criswell” in Ed Wood, and
“Reverend Steenwyck” in Sleepy HollowCall me nuts, but I get a kick out of watching him.
May 29, 2002 at 10:38 pm #40139AnonymousGuestMan, Jeffrey Jones IS a good character actor!! Too bad he and Pee Wee had that problem with the porn and the little boy they were allegedly having sexual relations with…MAN..that is a bum rap. Anyone know what happend? They just dropped out of the public view…
Id have to say , though, Johnny Depp, because at first i thought he was gonna be this blechhy teen idol ala DiCaprio, but instead just did a total 180 on everyone and went weird…i LOVE that. I respect the guy’s choices. And he’s just as good in a Burton Film as in ANY film…”From Hell” was pretty good…and a very unconventional ending it had, to boot. I even think Wahlberg is doing the same thing…at least he’s not MARKY MARK anymore…thank god.May 30, 2002 at 1:01 am #40145AnonymousGuestDepp is “out-there” – a good thing, in my opinion – but I have to agree with ElfmanFreak: Jack is an all-time favorite
May 30, 2002 at 1:18 am #40147AnonymousGuestNot to clog up this particular topic, but WHAT is this about Jones and a little boy?? I knew about Paul Reubens in the porno theater, but nothing about Jeffrey Jones. Has my Character-Actor-Hero got a tarnished spot on his reputation?? I almost don’t want to know.
May 30, 2002 at 2:03 am #40150AnonymousGuestJones was being investigated – last I knew – for suspection of something about little boy porno on his computer. (*I THINK that’s right…correct me, anyone, if it isn’t!) My absolute favorite Burton actress would have to be Winona Ryder. She had me hooked even at the age of 5 in “Beetlejuice.” But yes, I do enjoy Jeffrey Jones as well…
May 30, 2002 at 4:08 am #40156AnonymousGuestYEah, that might be it about JEffrey…but this was like a few months back, mind you, and it went quickly off the radar. But i DO recall the two being linked in some way…and a little boy was involved, i think. You could probobly find the article somewhere on the web….Look it up and enlighten us all before i DO!
You know, i forgot about Winona? I was in love with her BIG TIME when i saw Beetlejuice…What a fox. Incidentally, it seems like all of Tim’s actors are getting in trouble — even Winona had her little shopping spree…Johnny’s got enough sense to stay in Paris, man. And yeah, Jack is always a show stopper, next to Keaton. It’s a tough choice, all around. Aw HELL — i’ll take Landau from Ed Wood. HE was so damn funny and tragic. I felt for his character. POOL De STRINK!May 30, 2002 at 4:39 am #40157AnonymousGuestJohnny Depp as every part he’s ever played in a Burton movie. (Big fan.)
I thought I loved Christina Ricci in Sleepy Hollow — and I do, in that movie — but once I looked at a couple of interviews of her I realised she isn’t the chick I had her cracked up to be in my mind.
Gotta love Miranda Richardson as Lady Van Tassel/Archer, though. But, besides Depp, ELFMAN is my favourite Burton character!! Even though he didn’t get the *talking* part of Jack Skellington, there was more singing than talking, therefore he got the better part of Jack Skellington. (And Barrel, The Clown with a Tearaway Face, various other characters)
Also Greg Proops — he got a cameo and about 5 parts in the Nightmare Before Christmas (The duck, Harlequinn Demon, etc etc) but I am a huge fan so I couldn’t leave him out.-Em
May 30, 2002 at 9:02 am #40165AnonymousGuestNo one mentioned Christopher Walken!
He’s the daddy!!!!
:o)
May 31, 2002 at 1:47 am #40167AnonymousGuestin regards to the child porn allegations… i searched about for some news reports on this – i DID find something indicating that Paul Reubens’ home had been searched – although there’s no specific explanation given as to WHY (with the exception of a mention of Reuben’s photography and vintage erotic art collections)…
Reubens’ spokesperson states that his client is not involved in any illegal activity, and that the allegations may be financially motivated…the only place mentioning child porn or Jeffrey Jones’ involvement is the National Enquirer…a TABLOID mag (in case ya didn’t know ) so, that’s probably bullshit.
and the search took place on Nov. 19th, 2001… so – it’s been awhile and there’s been no charges filed since…that i could find, anyway…
here are the links i found…

http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/nastynews/investigations/peewee.htmlMay 31, 2002 at 9:53 am #40181AnonymousGuestI’m a big fan of Michael Keaton. Maybe it’s because I saw Batman when I was eleven, or something, but it just stuck. That, and I think BeetleJuice is a riot! It’s sad. I’m still obsessed with the same things that I liked back in the day!
Also, I’m quite fond of Johnny Depp’s performance in Edward Scissorhands–but of course I just may be partial to the fact that it’s one of my favorite films.
May 31, 2002 at 10:58 am #40183AnonymousGuestYeah, that thing about Jeffrey Jones and Pee Wee is disconcerting, but it’s good to know there’s holes in the case. And i don’t even feel too bad for Pee Wee, neither. I still respect him for the entertainment he gave me.
June 2, 2002 at 2:53 am #40193AnonymousGuestAugh — CHRISTOPHER WALKEN! How could I not mention him? Jeesh.
Wasn’t Joanne Lumley in one of the Burton films? I know she was in James and the Giant Peach, and Burton produced that with Di Novi. If she counts, I’m definitely voting for her too. Being my favourite actress and such.-Em
June 2, 2002 at 5:36 pm #40198AnonymousGuesti didn’t even bother watching James and his big peach, on account that it wasn’t Elfman related, AND Henry Selick used Newman, of all people…Not much a fan of Selick, either. You can tell he made it considering he hasnt relased a film since…I give him credit for Nightmare and that’s it.
June 3, 2002 at 3:26 am #40207AnonymousGuestDidn’t Selick direct Monkeybone?
June 3, 2002 at 4:42 am #40209AnonymousGuestYeah, Selick did direct “Monkeybone,” but through several delays and studio tinkering the movie ended up being even worse (it still would have been bad if released the way Selick wanted it.). There’s not that much animation in the movie either. Too bad considering Selick did some cool cartoons during the early MTV days.
June 8, 2002 at 8:45 pm #40271AnonymousGuestIsn’t it Christopher Walker? Am I sounding snobby? SOZ! He was in Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon Of Choice” video. Heard of it?
June 9, 2002 at 5:22 pm #40277AnonymousGuestMy choice: Bruce Campbell, maybe Bill Paxton on a second place
June 14, 2002 at 5:52 am #40338AnonymousGuestWell of course Bruce is the best Raimi actor! But that’s just because I’m partial to cheesy horror flicks….
