Yeah, I’m just a real huge fan of circus music (particularly Nino Rota, the king of circus music as far as I’m concerned) and I was bummed when told that the circus music wasn’t on the album. When I heard this movie had a circus in it, the thing I was most looking forward to was new circus music from Elfman. From the clip of the film I’ve seen, it was a delightful variation of the Entry of the Gladiators, and not original Elfman circus music, but I haven’t been able to see the film yet (not in my area yet), so I don’t know if there was any original circus music written apart from that. If there was, then it really sucks that they left it off of the album. Which page on the Big Fish site has the circus music?

Thank you for pointing this out Mike. You and I seem to be the only ones that are posting around on the message boards that give a damn about his circus music for “Big Fish.” I really like what I’m hearing, and this piece would’ve been such an immensely welcome addition to the album. I’m going to go ahead and assume it’s Elfman’s music, since it sounds like his circus style from “Big Top Pee-Wee” (one of my favorites of his). A damn shame none of his original circus music, or his interpretations of popular circus music, made it on the album. Thanks again Mike.

Ryan, or anybody else, was there any other circus music in the film besides this piece on the site and his interpretations of “Entry of the Gladiators?”

Ok…let me give you the skinny. Danny pretty much gave us the best that’s in the flick, which is appreciated, with the exception of the circus cue..but even the circus cue isn’t AT ALL that long enough to really merit it’s own track; it’s quick and just goes through and you really don’t seem to mind it after watching the movie. As a matter of fact, i don’t even remember there being anymore circus music in it other than that one spot – the cues were so fleeting. There’s alot of other incidental cues that i just didn’t mind not hearing on the cd, because the cd just has everything i really wanted from it; all the main themes are there, and it seems to have the last 11 minutes of the flick intact on the cd, with no cuts. I’m sure at some point an extended version will be created by someone who has the technology, but in the meantime, this is good enough for me…If at all, i felt more gyped by the lack of Hulk music…but to each his own. All i can say is GOD this is a DAMN GOOD MOVIE.
