James Horner??December 30, 2003 at 6:59 am #47360Anonymous
GuestJames Horner…. yes, I think they messed up a bit, don’t you? ^^ A bit daft to ever imagine a Burton movie without Elfman music. They must be brothers seperated at birth! Well, ignoring the fact that they look completely different. Well, you know, a great review! I’m seeing many great reviews, I can’t wait to hear it!

Well, there’s Ed Wood, but that score is quite good – good utilization of 1950’s-style theremin and percussion – Burton should have stuck with Howard Shore. Ha-ha-ha, just kidding.

As BLASPHEMOUS as that is(!), now you’ve said that, I just though ‘Imagine if Burton/Elfman did the LOTR series instead of Jackson/Shore’
I reckon that would be pretty damn spectacular! Not to say they haven’t done a good job. Comments?

GuestYeah, no offense to Burton, but Jackson was the only man for the job. Shore, on the other hand, did great, but who’s to say a Danny LOTR score wouldn’t blow his away. We don’t know it, but I could see it being possible.

GuestThere’s no question that Danny would have composed a passable score(s). You combine Black Beauty with Sommersby and you got Lord of the Rings music.
Does anyone recall if Jackson asked Danny to score the trilogy?

Guestwho knows…considering how well Frighteners did at the box office, i wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t ask him…but who knows.

GuestIf anything, Elfman’s score helped its box office.

GuestI’m going to learn how to play the theremin. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Other than that, I bet you could make one of your own after spending a day at the library and a hundred bucks at Radio Shack… Or, you know, pawn shops, garage sales, and so on.
