    Hi

I haven’t been able to hear any of the music from Big Fish. Has anyone heard it?
I really enjoyed the music from Scissorhands. Is it it like that? Or are there lots of southern fiddles and stuff?

it’s slow and picks up in some spots…think Instinct, Sommersby, Civil Action, Big Top Pee Wee, Simple Plan…And i wouldn’t call it a depressing sound, either. It’s lacksadaisickle – or however you spell it. If you’re a big dreamer and like that Southern rustic fiddle stuff, then it’s worth every penny. I think this is the best main titles i’ve heard all year, man. I’m glad he did this for Burton’s “Big Fish” instead of doing it for Raimi’s “The Gift,” because i imagine it would sound almost similar had he done that flick…and by the by, if this score serves a certain purpose for you, more power to you.

The CD _is_ really good, although I think I think it’s a little short (a little under 40 minutes). It’s more like a collection of really good cues from the movie rather than something that follows the narrative and sort of recreates the experience ala EDWARD SCISSORHANDS or even HULK. The cues are out of order — more like on a John Williams or Thomas Newman CD — but they honestly probably play better than way. The best cue by and large is “Finale” which lasts a little over 11 minutes and contains most of the major movements of the score. The themes are really lyrical and beautiful, and they’re allowed to just kind of do their thing a lot on the album. I don’t know if it gets much better than the second half of “Underwater.”

All in all, I’d say the CD plays really well, which is probably why it leaves you wishing that it were a bit longer!
