Guestsh**… i thought that the columbia logo was enough to prove that it was the official one !
how do u know that ryan ? And by the way : is there something in the world you don’t know ?

GuestHaha. Jack, the poster is not real. Just by looking at it.
First, they person who created it has used the Adobe Photoshop “Noise” filter on the image. If you were passing around a scan of a poster, there would not be such sharp “Noise” at the image’s current size.Secondly, the credit block is what gives it all away. The cast is not listed in the appropriate order (at the top and the bottom), and the font on credit blocks is generally condensed quite tight (and is too much work for a lazy PS user to do!)
Also, you’ll rarely (if never – I guess there are no true rules) see a “COMING THIS WINTER” or whatever listed above the credit block on a teaser poster. People will read it wrong and think that is the title!

GuestYeah, the text is what gives it away.

Guestyeah i must say, i had a doubt : mcgregor last name of the cast, the tagline (that doesn’t mean anything), etc.
But well, with the columbia logo and the fact it was a plausible date for the teaser to come out, i believed that….“and the font on credit blocks is generally condensed quite tight (and is too much work for a lazy PS user to do!)”
that is not always true. I’ve seen posters with larger credits but it isn’t generally the case indeed.

GuestAnother dead give away: the poster says that Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are exec producers. Wrong! They were attached to the project years ago, but have not been for quite some time. The IMDB has this info wrong too. Whomever put this sham of a poster together should have checked the facts a little more closely.

Guestwell, other than some sad f***er taking the time to pretend that this poster was real..it gets an A+ for design from me. it looks nice

Guestit’s a nice work but i’m always astonished to see how people can waste their time doing such things :S
recently, i was on a discussion board where a guy actually wrote an entire script for spidey 2 !!!May 7, 2003 at 1:35 pm #44985Anonymous
Guestahh man!! :)sad people, heh??

GuestYeah, that’s what really frightened me. Yeah, the poster is cool-looking . . . but who the *** would spend so much time doing that? I mean . . . does this person have any kind of a life? At all? Is sitting at home making fake posters for movies for no good reason this person’s idea of fun?
Ryan, you are god. It would have fooled me and everybody else here

GuestJust looking out for everyone

And I don’t think it’s totally sad that someone took the time to make the poster. It’s sad that they tried to dupe people into thinking it was real!

GuestYeah, man, I make fake posters an’ crap all the time in Photoshop. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, unless you try to make people think it’s the real deal, of course.

GuestI do something similar: I rewrite movies that already exist.
I once wrote in improved version of Batman Returns which excluded Batman and Catwoman and just focused on the rise and fall of Penguin.
I do think it is a cool looking poster, though.

GuestHey, I rewrite movies too!
I once wrote an improved version of “Edward Scissorhands” which excluded Edward, Kim, Peg and just about every other character and just focused on the rise and fall of some toxic squirrels.

GuestAcually, I thought the poster was very poor. The text is what killed it, it says Photoshop all over it. If they had acually looked at a few more posters than they could have made it look much better.
