We’ve discussed Brett Ratner’s upcoming “After the Sunset” and whether or not Danny Elfman would score it, being a recurrent Ratner composer. The scores for “Family Man” and “Red Dragon” were very good, so it’s likely that Ratner will use Danny’s music again. Would it be possible that Danny would be picked up for “Rush Hour 3?” IMDb lists Lalo Schifrin as the composer, but he’s getting a bit older. Danny Elfman has proven that he can adapt from a Lalo Schifrin theme (Mission Impossible), so could he possibly be the composer for “Rush Hour 3?”

I doubt that Elfman will score RUSH HOUR 3. While Lalo is getting on in his years, he’s lost none of his talent. And who really wants Elfman to score RUSH HOUR 3?

Ratner is still trying to find his knack — but he’s not going to find it in another buddy-cop sequel.

“While Lalo is getting on in his years, he’s lost none of his talent.”

    I second that Ryan.

Just listen to some of his recent concert works for great examples of this.

I totall agree, too. And, I certainly want Schifrin doing Rush Hour 3. I also want Brett Ratner doing Rush Hour 3, and I don’t want Danny doing Rush Hour 3. Not his style. I’m SO glad RH3 is happening – those films crack me up. Hopefully, the third should wrap it all up, nicely!

Hmm, didn’t like the second one, but if Ratner is helming it then I GUESS I’ll watch it. However, I want to see Elfman doing more different projects (like strait-up dramas and epics), but that is just me. While music for comedys can be really good, I think the opportunity to do a highly serious film leads to highly passionate music.
