GuestI just went back and read the first few posts since the “Great thread loosing”, and on one thread, “Mr.E” mentioned that he was planning on making a bronze figure of Danny, and a figurine of him as Satan from Forbidden Zone. What happened with those things… anyone know?… is Mr.E still here?

GuestHi, The J
Thanks for enquiring about me and the sculpture. I visit this site daily, but don’t always post unless their is something I really want to share. To answer your question, I have not started the Elfman sculpture, only because I have been focused on other sculptural projects I am in the process of completing. I have been seriously thinking about doing it for the longest time. I rarely do portraits of famous people. Unless, it is someone I have great admiration for, such as Danny Elfman. In fact, I have only done one other portrait of an icon and it was a bronze sculpture of Jimi Hendrix. I think even Danny Elfman would agree that Jimi Hendrix was a one-of-a-kind and a true genius who is worthy of being immortalized in bronze. As for Danny, I have been a fan of his since 1981, when I was just barely 13 years old. I have always been moved by his music and have found Danny to be a great source of inspiration. His music has always had a very visual and theatrical quality to it. I have found the complexity and dynamic nature of his music to be highly influential to my own artistic expression. As an artist, I try to infuse that same creative energy into my work. As for Danny sculpture, I would like to produce a very limited edition and cast the sculptures in bronze. I am not really interested in producing a “figurine”, such as the series of rock star icons the McFarland folks are creating. No knock to what they are doing, it’s just that I am not really interested in mass producing his likeness. I just feel that someone as gifted and complex as Danny Elfman should be represented in a manner that would best honor his greatness. To be completely honest with you, I would much rather create a monumental Sculpture of Danny. A figurative work that would express Danny’s Genius both as a composer and a performer. A large scale work of art that would do justice to Danny’s gigantic talent. I envision this sculpture to stand somewhere in Los Angeles, perhaps downtown near the music center. Some place public Danny’s fans could go to and remember him not only for his music, but also, in my humble opinion, as the great performer he was. I think he will be remembered for his music for centuries to come and I would be greatly honored for the chance to produce a sculpture to remember him by. For the time being though, I will be quite happy to create a much smaller version and hopefully, I will have the opportunity to show the sculpture in a gallery for his fans to see. Thank you for asking and I will keep you posted as the work develops.
Best Regards, Mr.E

GuestFirst of all? Danny a performer? Hardly. May’be genius composer, but to immortalize him? I think he would hunt you down and drive a stake through your heart. Sorry…

GuestYes, Danny the performer… as the front man to Oingo boingo.
And, HEY!… What’s with butchering my name, “The Y”?

GuestHey, thank you for the support. I was starting to feel a little self-conscious about my idea. I guess that’s a good thing, because, in some strange way, it makes me want to do it even more.
