This Wednesday night, Rick will be chatting in the yahoo oingoboingo club at 9pm left coast (midnight east) unless you’re in Europe and then it’s sometime Thursday morning.
To access this chat you will need to join the group. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oingoboingo and click “join this group”
When you are given the option to either be a member or join the mailing list, BE A MEMBER. If you are only on the mailing list, yahoo will NOT let you access the chat.
Once you’ve established membership, just go back to that homepage at the proper hour and click the “chat” link (on the left side, near the center). It is a java chat so you must use a java enabled browser.
If you have any questions, you can email me or post it in the club.

I don’t think I’ll join the chat though. First, because it bores me to sign-up to yet another yahoo thing, and second, because as of yet I don’t have anything special to tell or ask Rick Elfman.
However I’d love to read what he has to say. Be sure to post a transcript after the E-day, Pammy…

I’ll see what I can do. I’m not sure if yahoo lets you log the chat or not. If not, I don’t see it happening. He’s allowing an hour for the chat. I really don’t want to do that much cut and paste in yahoo since they only let you grab so much at a time.
Yahoo’s gotten so cranky in the last year or so.
Well, I played around with the chatroom last night and I will NOT be posting a transcript. Not only is there no option to log the chat like in IRC, but you can’t highlight and copy any text either.
Yahoo is not the best chat platform, but since this thing evolved from the clubs, that was the easiest place to do it. If we manage to pull this off without tramatizing the dear man, maybe we can set one up at a future date with one of those IRC/Java hybrids so people can join us without joinnig the yahoo groups.

Use Babbleon chat based on the old excite chat vp software, not only can you talk, you can use avatars and gesture programs in the room. All text is easily highlighted and C&P friendly. For the software go to Babbleon.net and download babbleon163. the rest is easy as there is no registration or password required (as long as the name you want isn’t already registered). Just follow directions on the main page. This chat program is safer than the irc where hackers go unchecked also. Any questions, post here or e-mail me.
