GuestI’m started building an “ultimate Elfman” compilation and was wondering if you guys know which of his scores are assembled chronologically.

GuestThey’re assembled chronologically on the FILMOGRAPHY section of this site. Also check IMDB.
To date, I have every score Elfman ever had pressed to CD as well as some bootlegs and promos so I’m a little curious to what will be on this compilation. I think I have everything, pretty much. I’m still holding out for Music for a Darkened Theater v:3 disc. That Nissan music is number one on my list of what to get and that’s really the only thing he’s done that I don’t have (except for Summer School). I hope they put both of those things on the third volume of “Darkened” music.
It’s taken ten years but I’m very sure that I have everything else, from his early-on Mystic Knights performances to Spider-man 2.

GuestHey Dawg,
I think I pretty much have everything from Mystic Knights to SpiderMan also. Could you email me your list of stuff (click on 9fingeredElf for my email address) I would love to compare lists.

GuestActually, what I meant was how many of his scores were assembled chronologically track-by-track. For example, when I assembled my own version of “Scissorhands” (with ten extra minutes from the DVD score), I noticed that the album itself was out of sequence.

GuestIf I’m not mistaken, which I might, the following albums are in sequence:
Pee-wee’s Big Adventure/Back to School
Beetlejuice
Darkman
Nightmare Before Christmas
Mars Attacks
Men in Black
Flubber
Psycho (I know, don’t tell me)
Spider-Man 2July 27, 2004 at 11:55 pm #51620Anonymous
GuestI see what you’re saying Will. The track list on any given score is not always in the same order as the actual scenes when watching the film, itself. Right?
But I’m not sure how, other than watching each film, to put them all in order.July 28, 2004 at 7:13 pm #51646Anonymous
GuestBatman Returns is an example. It CD had most of the movie’s cues but arranged in different order and in various suites.

GuestI just re-ordered “Midnight Run”. A few pieces are tracked in places…”Dorfler’s Theme” and “The FBI” are used briefly in many places. I remembered the “Stairway Chase” came before the “Main Titles” from when I had previously seen the film, but didn’t realize how much was out of order.
