Tim Burton will produce THE CORPSE BRIDE, a new stop-motion animated movie in development at Warner Bros. Portland, Oregon- based Vinton Studios will also produce the project, set to begin filming this November in London, England.
Based on a 19th century Eastern European folk tale, BRIDE is about a man who winds up being engaged to a corpse. The movie was written by Caroline Thompson, a longtime collaborator of Burton’s (she also wrote the screenplay for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.) The picture is being directed by first-timer Mike Johnson.
what concerns me about this is… didn’t Danny himself express interest in developing this story? Or am i thinking of something else…
either way, pretty good odds Elfman might end up involved on this film.May 1, 2003 at 9:18 pm #44919Anonymous
GuestNo, Danny was working on adapting the TRUE story about a doctor who cannot get over the death of his beloved, so he (rationally?) steals her corpse, dresses it up, and lives with it for many years.
CORPSE BRIDE seems to be going for whimsy. UNDYING LOVE seemed to be aiming for pathos.

Guestah, ok… got the two confused.
thanx!(still, corpse bride sounds potentially like a nice return to Nightmare styled Elfman scoring, if he ends up working on the project- course at this point it’s a little early to speculate)
