GuestWell all, I had the idea that we honest folk should start a fanclub. I’m still trying to work out what the hell we’d be doing in it but the best I can do is say that we’ll figure it out as we go.
I’ve installed a new DANNY ELFMAN website (http://elfman.zonehere.com), complete with Chat and a Message Board, that I’ve been working on for a few days now. Not all the REVIEWS are up (only Red Dragon) but more will come and you’ll get the idea of what I’m trying to do with a glance. Also, I’m thinking heavily about encoding everything rare of Danny Elfman’s (promos, bootlegs, ect.) into Real Audio, since they aren’t readily available to the public. I don’t know the legalities of it all but, best i can figure, people don’t see it in their stores then they deserve it online. I’ve already put the Little Demons, Jimmy Callicut and Nightmare Before Christmas demos online. More will come, including the score to “Freeway” and a scattered rarities page (that includes theme music from Peversions of Science, Batman: The Animated Series and Sledge Hammer).
I’ve created little shockwave MP3 players that are spread through out the site. They will rotate various ELFMAN melodies. Currently I have a few from Black Beauty, Shrunken Heads and Beetlejuice. I’ll update every once in a while.
So, everybody, PLEASE tell me what you think and make some suggestions to the makeup of it all. Remember, it’s not all done yet.

GuestOh yeah, the shockwave flash player thingies may take a little while to load. I’m working on that. Bare with me.

GuestI would be wary of claiming your site is the home of the “Official Danny Elfman Fan Club”, when it is clearly not.

GuestLittle Demons, Jimmy Callicut? Are there albums/CDs of those? Where can I get them? TIA

Guestsince there aren’t any official “fan clubs” I’m just gonna ride this one out.

GuestJimmy Callicut and Little Demons are not on CD. That’s why they’re on the site.

GuestI love your graphics, man! The burton sketches are nice touch!
This is kinda cool, actually — since I always thought The Zone and MFADP were sorta like sister sites, and now you and I might be in the same boat (since I’m pretty much transcribing the interviews/articles/lyrics you’re planning on putting up).
I just have one or two little pet peeves though —
First, the site loads kinda slow… and I have a DSL Connection… sooooo…
Second, I think you’re having bandwidth problems (for awhile I got an error message) — which is cool (I think), since that means you’re getting people — just too much to handle. Maybe you can talk to Tripod or whoever’s hosting you?
Third — I’m kinda with Ryan on this — the term “Official” makes it sound like Elfman liscenced this thing, and that might be misleading. I’m still torn about even using the word “official” for my sheet music and lyrics pages, because I don’t want to give the impression that I’M selling these things or anything. Then again, I gotta differentiate between liscenced material and the fan based guesses and unreleased lyrics… so it’s a toss-up.
Finally, thanks for linking to me! I really appreciate it! However, next time, please ask.

It’s okay — I’m not upset — it’s just that I hadn’t registered the site yet, and still considered it unfinished. I only showed it to you guys to get some basic feedback before I went public with it. On the bright side, though, you got me to get off my lazy ass and fly into finishing it. Once I saw that I was linked last night, I stayed up and punched in the meta tags, page titles, keywords, and knicked and tucked some other things. Hopefully the FAQ and LINKS page will be finished today and I can upload them tonight (then submit it all to Google).
So anyway — good luck! And keep up the great work!

GuestOk. You and RYAN talked me into it. The “Official” is leaving the title.
I can’t do much about the bandwidth at this point though.PS: If you haven’t got the FREEWAY promo score then I posted the entire thing in REAL AUDIO online.

GuestFreeway promo score! Yeah! You’re the greatest, Flynnboy! I love you!!!
-E (who thinks Flynnboy should be canonized for posting the entire thing in RealAudio, and is goiing to check it out right now…entire promo score…Woo!)

GuestThanks, Burt. I appreciate your attempt at riling me, but it didn’t work.
I hate to be immodest, but considering my accomplishments with my own site, and it’s good reputation, I have nothing to be jealous about.

GuestOkay, the “canonization of Flynnboy” comment *wasn’t* meant as a dig against anybody. Ryan, I appreciate what you’ve done and what you continue to do for Elfman fans around the globe. Flynnboy, your joining the circle of Elfman info-dispensers is very cool. So, by royal proclamation: let it be known that E appreciates anyone who does anything to spread the joy of Elfman.
-E (man, this PC stuff is hard work!)

GuestTake a chill pill, Burt.
I also thought using the word “official” may be troublesome and misleading (not intentionally, of course, but definately a small glitch in an otherwise kick ass site) — does that mean I’M jealous? Me, who has NOTHING and actually likes it that way? :-b
Ryan’s got nothing to be jealous about — his site is still the standard, and as much as a I like Flyyn’s site, Ryan’s been in the game a lot longer and I appreciate everything he’s done.
