This was an exclusive piece of news that I got in my Vienna interview (which I also posted in the Vienna thread):
So yet another Elfman concert work to look forward to!
Still no update on this, and it’s been two months. Weird.
He’s mentioned it a few times while doing press for Justice League.
Spent the afternoon in LA working w/the amazing Danny Elfman, Christopher O’Riley, and 3/4 of the Calder Quartet! #dannyelfman #christopheroriley #calderquartet #pianoquartet #chambermusic #classicalmusic #happyfestivus #holiday #weekend #saturday #lifeofapianist #lifeofamusician pic.twitter.com/FsJqoZUG5o

That was really poorly written.
I do hope it gets recorded though as I always wanted to hear Elfman writing for smaller ensemble. He wrote minimalistic music but mostly never an orchestral score with only a few instruments. The only score that got close that I can remember of was Dolores Claiborne that was strings instruments only.
Dolores has brass and woodwinds, just not a lot of them.
Yeah, I had doubts for latter, more busy, cues. But there are few cues with strings only if I remember well…
There’s a weird brass thing when Dolores jumps over the well that I love.
Really love that film – I wish it were on Blu-Ray.
