GuestOkay, kids, here are bits of info I didn’t know (then again, I’m always the LAST to know):
1) A friend of mine – who happens to be heavily involved with Apple computers – sent me a link to the Apple website. It contains a fairly large spread about Elfman and his studio setup. (Yes, it also happens to be a Danny endorsement of Apple as well. I love Elfman, trust me, but I’m not going to go all Macnutty just because he loves his computers…) Note to rabid Elfman fans: the author of the “article” misspelled Sommersby. *Evil laughter* Let’s all send her nasty emails. Who’s with me?
Anywho, here’s the link:
http://www.apple.com/pro/elfman/2) While working tonight at the press, I was listening to my boss’ selection of iTunes (yeah, I’m the last bastion of PC friendliness in my small social circle), and lo and behold, I hear a REMAKE of “We Close Our Eyes.” It’s by Susanna Hoffs, and evidently for some Buffy the Vampire Slayer Soundtrack. For any of you who care, “We Close Our Eyes” just so happens to be my most loved Boingo tune; I just about cried when I heard what this Susanna gal did to it. Let’s put it this way: Ms. Hoffs’ version doesn’t hold a candle to the one on the Farewell album (which happens to be my favorite of all of the song’s incarnations). When she sang, it lost all of the bittersweet sentimentality that I love so dearly. Quite frankly, I thought it was crap, and then some.
I apologize if you already know this…or if it has already been posted. I’m an idiot with a computer, which is a very dangerous combination. Fire when ready.

GuestWell, Macs are undeniably the best choice for that kind of thing. I’ve never heard of a film composer who uses Windows. And I don’t blame ’em.

GuestIf I’m not mistaken there is a connection between Oingo Boingo and The Bangles. Didn’t Steve Bartek play guitar on their “Hazy Shade of Winter” cover?
As far as the Mac, Windows thing goes, Mac is pretty much industry standard for the music business, everything from recording to mixing, because Macs are good specific machines, while Windows based computers are a better catch-all. I’ve seen plenty of Macs that are just as crappy as Window machines (working for a web design / internet provider), when they are pushed to do too many things. When I have the money, I’m definitely getting a Mac for all of my Music based work.

GuestYeah, I know you can’t really use PCs in composing…or publishing, for that matter. Macs do work wonders in those professions. But for a civilian, such as myself, I prefer a PC…Elfman, on the other hand, seems to enjoy his Macs. To each his/her own…

GuestP.U. me! I just cut the nastiest fart right now. It sounded like the Oingo Boingo horn section, tuning up for Nasty Habits! * Slaps backside, disgusted with her lousy sense of rhythm* , wow, I can really let some foul one’s rip!

GuestJesus Christ, I thought you were done with this idiotic game. Don’t try to pin your own personal romp sessions on me, kiddo. Now, not only have you taken my screen name (which I changed because of you), but also my email address…immature little troll, aren’t you?

GuestFine, I can take a joke. Some of your comments are actually mildly funny…see, I can laugh at myself (or rather, marshmellow posing as me). However, this WAS related to Elfman, so why the hell are you annoying me? (See, I upheld my end of the bargain. You, on the other hand…) You have had your fun, now go find someone in your neighborhood to pester. Really, man/woman/person, if you have to annoy people on the internet, I’m beginning to think that points to some serious confrontation issues. Again, if there’s something you’d like to discuss with me, you can send a message to the listed email address. It is a REAL email address. My niece is more mature than you, for god’s sake…and she’s in first grade. I’ve done what I can; the ball’s in your court now.

GuestLook kiddo, I’ll be the first one to admit that I can pass wind with the best of them, but this troll business has really got to stop! You really must grow up! Now I’m going to have to change my screen name again! and my personality too, so you can’t impersonate me, you rotten little troll!

Guestwell, just to test my reading comprehensoin skills, i’m guessing.. the last posting before mine is the marshmallow clone creature. but I see this topic has lost its original meaning, so i must go.
L- (copying erkia also!) who wouldn’t bring to attention that the marshamallow clone troll creature is a fan of pot, mastrebarting (still can’t spell.) and slapping her backside… but she’s actually stalking erika now and it’s creeping me out!
