THE NEW REPUBLIC“Comic book standby Danny Elfman to score ‘Batman Begins’”
Film composer David Julyan (‘Insomnia’), has been dropped from scoring the new Christopher Nolan film ‘Batman Begins’.
According to film producer Larry J. Franco, superhero music specialist Danny Elfman (‘Spider-Man’, ‘Batman’, ‘Men in Black’), is now scheduled to replace and score the picture.
“For this type of big, grandiose, action-filled film scoring, Danny really knows what he’s doing,” Franco said. “He’s a tremendous help, and significant player in this type of genre.”
Franco states that Julyan’s Batman themes have been rejected by the studio, deeming the music “too modern, and overly-simplistic”.
This isn’t the first time Elfman has been a film scoring replacement. Elfman has aided his musical abilities in Ang Lee’s ‘Hulk’ after composer Mychael Danna had been let go of scoring duties.
Filming in Iceland, ‘American Psycho’ actor Christian Bale stars as the shadowy vigilante: Batman, and co-stars Michael Caine as Bruce Wayne’s trusted butler, Alfred.

ugh this is the third time today i was duped!
That’s not April Fool’s, it’s just plain cruel! You have no idea how much that would have brightened up my day!!! It’s been raining for over 24 hours here in New England, and it’s not gonna stop for awhile. IT IS VERY GRIM OVER HERE! ARRRRGHHHH!!!
Oh yeah, as if they’d use Elfman’s score to the new versions…doesn’t sound right to me.
Actually, it would have been bad news to me. I want to hear another take on a Batman theme and David Julyan is pretty good. And I’m not expecting much at all with this new movie, anyway.
