my curiousity caught me when I heard the score, wasn’t satisfied untill I read the credits and saw Theme and music composed by Danny Elfman( The Pilot I assume), would be great if he scored a sieries.

Though Elfman is credited as writing the “Main theme”, the end credits list “Music by Steve Bartek.” Interesting!

I watched the whole episode (sparked just by the interest of a new Elfman theme), and there really wasn’t any real “main theme” to be found anywhere. The title popped up for a second and there were a few notes, but that was about it. My guess would be that, since this was the first episode and had to set up a lot of introductory plot and so forth, they cut the actual theme sequence out to make room for more show. Perhaps next week we will see an actual opening title sequence with Elfman music.

Wahtchya doing with Spider-Man 2 still? Anyways, do you have the entire Desperate Housewives score on tape or the entire episode on tape? Because if it’s just the episode, then there’s 5 minutes of music/

What plans do you have with Spider-Man 2? Unreleased cues?

See, he was having lunch and an ABC xec asked him to write a theme for a new show. Danny, in mid-sandwich, wrote down some music on his napkin and voila!

Actually I don’t know when he wrote it, but he said that it took an hour to write the Simpsons theme, which is on an entirely different scale of complexity from Desperate Housewives. I’ll bet that he wrote it in a few minutes.

Thank you for that wonderful explaination… actually, I meant when did he do it… a few years, months, days ago…
And I read somewhere that it took him 2 days for the Simpsons and in another place 1 day – now it’s down to an hour!

1994 _Grammy magazine_ interview: Danny claims 2 days. But maybe he only work a half hour per day? :o)

Looking forward to that Spidy2 feature! Be sure to flag it up on the board when your done, Ryan – my PC still doesn’t like dark blue-on-black (I’m thinking its the graphics card gradually crumbling since no amount of monitor tinkering brightens it), so it’ll save me highlighting everything. Thanks!!

To clarify the Desperate Housewives credits… Danny Elfman wrote the theme, and performs guitar on it, but did not compose the score. Steve Bartek did the score for the first two episodes.
