GuestAlright folks, the left hand is now full of spit. However, the right hand has the project you wish Danny Elfman was a part of. What would it be?
For years, I’ve wanted to see a big-screen version of the classic “The Prisoner” TV show. And because I want it all, I want it to STILL star Patrick McGoohan (Come on, look at “Braveheart”! He can still do it!). Although I’d expect to hear Ron Grainer’s original theme somewhere in the mix, I think Mr. E’s penchant for the psychotic would fit nicely in The Village.
Who’s next? Wanna shake my hand? NO, NOT THAT ONE!!
Ugh, that’s filthy.

GuestWell, if Neil Gaiman (hint-hint) ever gets around to finishing up the screenplay adaption of his graphic novel “Death: The High Cost of Living” I think it’d be snazzy for Danny to do the music for it, if nothing else than to have my favorite writer and composer working on the same project! (Oh, and of course Tim would direct–or Sam, if Tim were busy)….
Also, I think if “40 Days of Night” ever comes into being that’d be saucy too (it’s about vampires who take over an Alaskan town during the dark period of the year). I dunno. I think it’d just kinda be interesting to see what Danny could come up with for vampires and all….
For the most part though, I’m usually content with waiting for the next Danny and Tim or Danny and Sam collaboration. I like their movies best, and I tend to like the music Danny does for ’em better than the other movies, too.

GuestI’d like to see Elfman score an animated film based on Jhonen Vasquez’ cult comic book Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.
What would be even more awesome is if he did actual songs for the movie (songs kind of in the vein of “Helpless”). But it wouldn’t be a musical, the characters wouldn’t sing. It would be like Randy Newman did with Toy Story, except a lot more twisted.

GuestWell, I would like to hear Mr. Elfman score a Epic Fantasy Gothic Romance film. Acually, I would just like to SEE one for that matter, as I have yet to see anything that even comes close to what I have rolling around in my head (too bad I am not a director). I think that Danny would be perfect for that kind of a film.
Knight (Oh, and if anyone would direct, it would have to be either Burton, Raimi, or Jackson [no, Lord of the Rings is no where near what I am talking about, though they where damn good films]. Hell I could tell you who I would cast, who I would have produce, costumes, make-up, Sfx, everything! Now if only I had a billion dollers)

Guestoh and a sports flick! think about it, almost every other A-list composer has scored an epic sports film, Hoosiers, Rudy, League of their Own, Cool Runnings, umm John Williams doing the Olympics, yea that sorta counts, c’mon Danny score a darkly heroic hockey faceoff or perhaps, a boxing match…

GuestA film based upon HPL (Lovecraft) tales’ directed by Tim Burton would be really a dream come true for me.
If you read it, just imagine a story like “The Rats in the Wall” seen through Tim’s eyes and imbued with Danny’s music.June 11, 2003 at 7:30 pm #45470Anonymous
GuestThat would be awesome. There has never been a really good movie based on an H.P. Lovecraft story.

GuestSports? Pah! (Forgive me–my dislike of sports is one of the few ways in which you can say I’m girlish)….
Hey-hey Knight, you should up and write a screenplay for that there snazzy idea! Best way to find something you want to see is to up and do it yourself….I mean if you at least got something wrote down and all, it’s a start. And, who knows, you could luck out and have something come of it–figure you’ve got as good a chance as anyone and all….

GuestI kinda liked the suggestion of doing Johnny the Homicidal Maniac…I would like to see what themes he would do for Johnny and Squee.
I love Squee…I also think Tim and Danny would do a good job on a children’s ghost story called “Wait Till Helen Comes,” by Mary Downing Hahn. It was my favorite book when I was in late elementary, and it is still a favorite of mine.

GuestThis is my 1st time to the discussion board – Great topics for discussion. Nightmare Before Christmas was THE ultimate Elfman/Burton project. It was such perfection and uber-goth that I defer to that and Scissorhands as the ultimates!
What I would love to see though is a full-time ride at Disneyland inspired by the minds of Burton + Elfman. Or, better yet – a whole theme park that incorporates Halloweentown, Gotham City, the Scissorhands manor and a Boingo Dia De Los Muertos village!
