A commercial I remember seeing with a Little Red Riding Hood synopsis played music that I am 98% certain was from Edward Scissorhands. Anyone else know of this advertisement.

I haven’t seen a Little Red Riding Hood commercial, but I have seen a commercial around Valentine’s Day that sounded vaugely like Edward Scissorhands…just thought you might have wanted to know.

The Little Red Riding Hood one was a perfume commercial with Estella Warren (who, in a strange coincidence, starred in another films scored my Danny Elfman, “Planet Of The Apes”) and she was being chased by dogs and I think it was for Dior perfume or Givenchy.

The Valentine’s Day one was with two teddy bears. It was DEFINITELY Scissorhands inspired.

And the commercial was directed by Luc Besson.

Elfman’s music on adverts is nowhere near a surprise… In England, I’ve heard his stuff used for loadsa xmas stuff (scissorhands, of course), on a perfume ad, on a nappy ad, and too much more. Jeez – Elfman could retire today, and still make a bundle of cash just from Edward Scissorhands and Simpsons theme royalties!

But it’s not actually his music, is it? I’ve seen the above-mentioned commercials, and it’s always something that sounds VERY much like Edward, but JUST different enough for someone to be able to claim that it’s technically an original composition… which thus wouldn’t bag Elfman any cash.

Anyone seen any commercials that do use ACTUAL Edward music?

…that is, other than movie previews?

I don’t think they can do that. Only the studios own the rights to the composer’s music, so they can put in whatever they please in their movie commercials. Maybe I’m wrong.

Oh yeah; I remember those ads. There was also a Cinderella ad (I think for Capital One or something) with Elfman inspired music.
