One of my favorite new albums is COMBINATIONS by the family band Eisley (anyone heard it?) Turns out there is an Elfman connection…

Very cool music. Check them out.

Eh, their stuff is ok. Definitely not my cup of tea. The lead singer’s voice is pretty plain-jane … actually kind of reminds me of Avril Lavigne, and I really can’t stand her stuff.

For those of you who like the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, which, I imagine, is everyone here, should check out the World/Inferno Friendship Society. Their last two albums have been unbearably cool.

No one sounds like Avril because her vocals have been processed beyond recognition!

No more processed than any other crappy pop artist out there today, though. Unfortunately, it sounds like every single band uses the same producer that produces plain-vanilla sounds. Nothing sounds UNIQUE anymore, unless it’s Ween, or some other notable indie band.

its so funny that you would bring it up.

eisley is one of my favorite bands. i have seen them five times in five different cities since they toured with coldplay in 2003 (i met them after their show and have the picture framed in my bedroom).

i’ve been following their progress on the new album for the last year through their website’s journals. their manager (aka their father) had never heard of oingo boingo until richard gibbs was signed on to be their producer.

i don’t have any of richard’s score albums, as the movies he has scored have been fairly boring–no fault of his necessarily–but it was quite a left field choice to produce their album.

“many funerals” and “a sight to behold” are instantly likable (on eisley’s new album) and the title track and “taking control” are growing on me.
