Danny Elfman has been nominated for a Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for his score to BIG FISH. Here is the full list of nominees for best composer…

    Clint Eastwood, Mystic River
    Danny Elfman, Big Fish
Howard Shore, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
    Gabriel Yared, Cold Mountain
    Hans Zimmer, The Last Samurai

    Mystic River?
That’s a joke. Besides an ok theme, there’s nothing memorable about this score. If the composer’s name wasn’t Clint Eastwood, it would never have been nominated.

I agree with Nin here, the Mystic River score was ok but very weak in some parts if you ask me. It has nothing to do in that list.

i have to agree on that one…LOTR is EPIC…Big Fish is not. The Oscar committee has supposedly had a thing for this trilogy since the first episode, and they probobly mean to commemorate it as a whole, now that the last flick is in place…and they seem to really have a thing for epic films. Although Shore has already won once…I mean, give Elfman a break…he’s gotta win SOMETIME. Sheea

Remember, it took Randy Newman 13 nominations until he won. :)
