Danny Elfman was interviewed by Sci-Fi Wire about “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and he confirmed he is doing songs and score for the film! A demo has already been recorded for one of the songs.

Totally whacked out, man! It’s cool that he’s excited to do these projects because he seemed a little worn out and tired of composing there for a while. Because he’s so enthusiastic, it means better music! Bring it on, baby!!!
It’s funny, he made it seem like, “After I get Spiderman 2 outa’ the way, I can start doing to cool, fun stuff again.”

I remember once saying songs are gonna be great and someone on this board telling me that there won’t be any. Hmmm. Live and learn I guess.I’d hate the idea of another musical, but because Elfman’s doing all the songs, it’s all fine. I wonder if Elfman will have any character roles in the movie? I’m sure he will probably sing some parts, most likely the computer generated characters.
Elfman doing Oompa-Loompas! That’d be a blast! If the Loompas have a song, he’s got his work cut out for him beating the original film’s jingles, since they are ingrained in the common conscious.
I reckon Elfman will hark beck to the good ol’ NMBC school of songs for movies… atleast, I hope so!

I’m sorry but nobody could better the cheesiness of the Oompa-Loompa song from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. I defy Danny to take off his socks and bring out the Wensleydale.
