Guestcherry-
danny has been commissioned by the american composers society orchestra to compose a concert piece to be premiered in carnegie hall this january. the orchestra focuses on performing repetoire by composers who’s work garners contempt or complete apathy by the orchestral community (i.e-philharmonic orchestras). the piece should be released on cd shortly after that.

GuestWho thinks he should score Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (due out in 2005) If John Williams can’t ? I certanly do. By the way I’d have to say Elfman’s Best work would have to be “The Simpsons Theme” and that’s his only best workTheLastSlasherStanding wrote:

GuestCertainly, and this is simple opininated advice, but I do not think Elfman should stretch himself to expend a score towards another film without bringing something fresh and new to the table. I believe Elfman has made his run, his works are and have become from vague and obscure to well-known and popular, and I do not think that that was Elfman’s inceptive plan. Carnegie Hall will be a mile-stone in itself, as well as future slated plans and works that are already drawn and the ink’s dried to. The direction of film and television is changing, and once again, the sights, styles, and sounds are going to seek and need a new focus and Elfman’s sound, does not and will no longer suffice. In my opinion it’s served purpose.
I know arguably, there are many of you will disagree with me without me exampling some form of factual observations pertaining to his music. However, the cascading highs and shallowing lows to his scores such as in Batman, MIB, and Spiderman to the riddled, tightly woven scales from natural harmonic to minor diminutives as in Family Man, Mars Attacks, Mission: Impossible are all but signature, and homogeneous, and simply, now boring. The descriptive visual to his music is simple: BREATHING… he’s breathing his tracks.
I think and know for sure that he is well aware of and is probably in secret chambers as we speak scrambling for a new sound for the fresh new Elfman. I just hope it doesn’t carry the same tune as his previous works. I won’t hold my breathe for it, that’s for certain. - AuthorPosts
