GuestLooking around today for more Danny Elfman articles, I came across this at E! Online:
http://earthlink.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,11410,00.html
Here is a quote:
“Elfman is best known for his band Oingo Boingo (“Dead Man’s Party,” “Weird Science”) and the scores to Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Spider-Man and every Tim Burton film with the exception of Ed Wood. He has picked up Oscar nominations for his Good Will Hunting and Men in Black music and an Emmy nod for his theme to The Simpsons. “
Ok, now what is out of place here besides the fact that Elfman did not score T3? The fact that they say he is “best known” for it. Now that is just stupid. How can someone be “best known” for something no one has yet to see? When are people acually going to confirm thier sources before saying something about it (props to Ryan for waiting on the Hulk thing though).
I think someone should get a pipeline to Danny’s Agent so that we can find out if everything is correct or not
.Knight (I know, it was a stupid post, but not much else is going on)

GuestWhat did you expect from E!, the channel that regularly gives Joan Rivers specials TV specials?

GuestAnd they didn’t even mention his Grammy WIN for Batman.

(on a similar note, in the recent FSM they mentioned that Tchaikovsky wrote ‘Peter And The Wolf’ – gives film score fans a bad name)
Nat (who has made his share of mistakes in the past)
“Always, no, never forget to check your references.”

GuestHe didn’t score the music to James and Giant Peach, either. That was Tim, wasn’t it? I don’t really know–I never watched the movie.

GuestWho said anything about James and the Giant Peach? That was scored by Randy Newman, directed by Henry Selick (NMBC) and produced by Timmy, so ya know.

GuestE! is using the Internet Movie Database as a source, which lists Elfman on T3 (or did).
They should just come here

GuestWell, I was kinda pointing out that Danny didn’t….just….not….score Ed Wood….that there was also another movie of Tim’s that he didn’t score, which E! also tended to overlook.

GuestI originally heard that Brad Fiedel was returning as composer, but not true at all. Marco Beltrami took over that role, leaving Schwarzenneger the sole link between this and the other Terminator movies.
Not to put down Elfman, as this is not a put-down, but Fiedel’s style was the Terminator. The electronic-mostly electronic scores worked. Sure, Danny can cook up pretty mean electronic scores (it’s how he writes, after all) but it would have benefitted the movie had they kept Fiedel.
And T3 still looks sucky.
