Guestdoes anyone know if Elfman’s music is also sped up on this commentary track, or just his voice?

GuestNo, only his voice is sped up. The music is perfectly normal.

GuestI emailed Peter M. Bracke at DVDFile.com about this to see if he knew anything, and he told me it sounded like there was a recording error on Elfman’s commentary track. He said that perhaps it could have been digitally recorded at the wrong kHz.
When you record something at a lower kHz, and try to change it to a higher kHz, the audio is sped up slightly. I figure Universal Home Video figured no one cared, and didn’t want to have to go through the expense of having Elfman come in to re-record the track (assuming that he’d even want to do it all over again in the first place!)

GuestThere are tools to convert 44.1kHz audio to 48kHz without
changing speed and pitch – you do not need to re-record the track.shock

GuestEwkay, not good enough… So I think I should clarify —
Universal obviously did not know there was a problem with the track. If there was an error when it was recorded, it was not discovered until the discs were in stores.
