GuestWhat CD’s of Elfman’s music do you have, and which ones do you listen to the most? Just a random little idea I’d thought I’d ask.
Here’s my list of CD’s and, from top to bottom, the ones I listen to most frequently:
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Spider-Man/Men In Black II
Music for a Darkened Theatre 1
ChicagoI know they aren’t much, but I’m slowly accumulating my collection! *grins*
Cheers,

GuestI have: Beetlejuice\Batman Returns\Red Dragon\Music for D. T. part 2, used to have part 1 in the 90’s. I also have tons of his mp3’s from diff. movies.
My fav. soundtrack’s are Beetlejuice, BatMan Returns, Nightbreed (for personal nesalgia reasons, plus it’s good)
Least fav. – red dragon, only becuase he was doing a new style and I love that quarky beetlejuice style of chord changes and instrumentation, Sleepy Hollow is a good example, of his old…with a good new!

Guesti variate too much…it’s never a certain amount…i can tell you the least albums:
red Dragon (except his end credits stuff), dolores Claiborne, Batman 1 (burned it straight to hell with use in ’90), Civil action, To Die For, Extreme Measures (i heard it ONCE), Music for Darkened Theatre 1, Flubber, Back to School, Dick Tracy, Mission: Impossible,Psycho (except maybe the intro and main titles and ending scene)…and that’s it. The rest get regularly inhaled through my ears.

GuestI’d have to look at my CD collection to be sure of which ones I have, and I am far too lazy to get up and do that. But, off the top of my head, I have:
various Oingo Boingo albums
Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (bootleg)
both MFADT albums
Beetlejuice
Batman
Edward Scissorhands
Batman Returns
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Black Beauty
Mars Attacks!
Sleepy Hollow
Family Man (a copy of what I think was a bootleg)
Planet of the Apes
Spider-Man
Red Dragon
Chicago
. . . and very soon, Big Fish.As far as I can remember right now, that’s what I have. The Elfman albums I listen to most frequently are Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, Black Beauty, and up until recently, Red Dragon (I was listening to Red Dragon quite a bit on what turned out to be the worst day of my life. I still love the music, but don’t want to listen to it anymore; the last time it did it reminded me too much of how scary that day was). Also, there are a few albums that I listen to only rarely, like Sleepy Hollow, but that doesn’t mean I don’t adore them. On the contrary, Sleepy Hollow is one of my all-time faves, it just isn’t something I feel like listening to frequently.

GuestRandom list: Music for a Darkened Theatre: Volume 1, Music for a Darkened Theatre: Volume 2, Batman, Batman Returns, BeetleJuice, Planet of the Apes, Sleepy Hollow, Proof of Life, Mission: Impossible, The Hulk, Spider-Man, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Black Beauty, Edward Scissorhands, Red Dragon, Men in Black, Men in Black 2, and Forbidden Zone.
(And, if you want to throw in Oingo Boingo: Only a Lad, Nothing to Fear, Good for Your Soul, So-Lo, Dead Man’s Party, Boi-ngo, Boingo Alive, Skeletons in the Closet, Dark at the End of the Tunnel, Best O’ Boingo, Boingo, and Farewell).
Not the greatest collection, but there it is.
My favorite scores are probably Edward Scissorhands, BeetleJuice, and Nightbreed. And with the Boingo aspect of things, I’m partial to Dark at the End of the Tunnel and Farewell. Although you know everything the boy does is rather saucy–it’s just at varying degrees of sauciness.

GuestI think I have all of them except Big Fish and the promos. Now I’m hunting for Oingo Boingo’s albums: Nothing to Fear, Good For Your Soul, Anthology, Farewell, Bachelor Party and So Lo…
The ones I play most should be Batman Returns and Nightmare Before Christmas, and when I have to work for hours: Dead Presidents main title. Others are Flash, Sleepy Hollow.
The ones I love but seldom played POTA, Batman the animated series, Darkman, Dick Tracy and Chicago, Scrooged, Floop’s Song, Spider-Man Main Titles and End Credits, Red Dragon, To Die For, A Civil Action, March of the Dead, Forbidden Zone especially the alphabet song and the love theme, Big Top Pee Wee, Breakfast Machine, Flubber, Psycho, Anywhere but Here, Heartbreakers, well… in short I love most of them

GuestSay, does the Dolores Claiborne album have much to offer when I already have Music for A Darkened Theater II?
January 9, 2004 at 3:14 pm #47500Anonymous
GuestYes.

GuestThe Dolores Claiborne CD has about 11-12 minutes of music not on the MFADT2 CD. I think it’s defintely worth it–great, somber score.

GuestMy collection’s only missing Midnight Run and Black Beauty as far as full albums go (I had them both but they didn’t survive a move!). I also don’t have any of the promos like Good Will Hunting or The Family Man, but I’m always on the lookout for them if someone’s interested in a trade
