Yeah, I might go. I’ve been working insane hours lately, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to stay up that night. The thing about the Nu Art is that the movies always start waaaaaaaay late, but the screenings are fun. The movie geek from BEAT THE GEEKS is usually there (I belive he’s a co-owner of the establishment), and I believe that Richard Elfman himself is going to be there to introduce the film!! Still, what a f*%$ed up movie. It might be fun to see it with a big group of people who are all stoked up to see it.

Yeah, Richard Elfman is supposed to be there, and Dead Man’s Party too.

Fat chance I’ll ever find a big group of people to see it, let alone a group which is stoked to see it!! When everyone you know wakes up between the hours of 3 and 5 in the morning EVERY morning and you’re the only person who doesn’t totally mind sleep deprevation . . . well, that, plus I could only think of one person even remotely weird enough to want to see this and I still have my doubts!

One of the yahoo clubs… not mine this time *pouts* has a thread about the screening and who is going. Actually two of the clubs I think and one IS mine.

if you’re looking for people who are going, you might pop over to groups.yahoo.com and look at boingo and dmpclub. I think both of those had FZ/Rick/DMP threads going.

We’re not getting it here in St. Louis until June and we get neither Rick or DMP for it. Not that I haven’t tried to talk both parties into being there… LOL

Can’t imagine WHY they don’t want to come to this void I call home. Go figure.

I did end up going with a friend/classmate of mine, and I was very fortunate that I got free tickets (the movie ended up being sold out). Dead Man’s Party was there, and so was Richard Elfman of course, along with (the former?) Marie-Pascale Elfman (I don’t know what she goes by now), Matthew Bright, Claire Elfman, and a few others. They were doing the “drawings” for the four prizes, and they asked if anyone could speak fluent French in honor of Frenchy to win a prize. I had forced my friend to sit way up in the front with me and so she got picked, and spoke a few sentences and then when she sat down she handed me the prize . . . awwww what a sweetheart. It was a FZ CD autographed by Richard Elfman and Danny Elfman. I realized halfway through the movie that I forgot to put money in the parking meter, and was relieved when I got back to see that I didn’t get a ticket – – so all in all, a fun, no-cost night.

People were generally obnoxious during the Q & A, but I did enjoy two questions and their answers: (something along the lines of . . . )

Q: I find that I’m very fascinated by the motif of dry humping in the movie. Can you explain this please?
A: Well, when you can’t pay the actors much, you have to give them SOMETHING.

Q: When the princess is being brought to Satan, why does she flap her arms like a chicken?
    A: Why the hell not?

I was there. If The Forbidden Zone is playing near you have to go. Watching the movie with a 1000 people is something you can’t experience by watching your old video at home. Another cool thing about the evening Rob, the lead singer to Deadman’s Party, was dressed to look like Danny in the movie. They sang Sweezit the Mocher and Forbidden Zone from the movie. They did a great job.

Go check now to see if it’s playing in a theater near you:
