I just heard about a site (www.scour.com) where you can download the movie Mars Attacks to your computer for free… it took me about 30-40 mins to download (on broadband) and then it played on my Windows Media Player. Kinda cool.
Well, I read their legal jargon page, and it looks kosher enough, but something just doesn’t seem right. I know there have been threads on here arguing copyright laws, and I’m not about to start another one, but I’d think twice about downloading something like that without making sure first that Warner Bros. has giving their okay. That’s just an opinion; I am NOT currently calling the FBI to turn you in! Honest! (I tried, but couldn’t find them in the phone book.)
Of course, if you have no conscience on such issues, enjoy the film! (I have the widescreen VHS version, so I don’t plan to bother with a computer media file anyway.)
Considering the fact that the movie has been on television, and is available on DVD or video for under $15, what’s the point in downloading it?

No, this one is legal. I got an email about it and they are doing some kind of trial or something so they have the rights from Warner to have it available for download.
