Guest(This is almost completely unrelated, but the remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory got me started on this… )Wanted to know if anyone knows anything about what happened to Gene Wilder’s daughter? I’ve been looking and can’t find any explaination of his interview with Larry King…
(This is where the interview he mentions it in is at:
http://www.wilder.narod.ru/index_interview_larry.htm)“KING: Do you have children?
WILDER: Do I? No. I had a daughter and lost her a long while ago. That’s too sad a story to go into.
KING: How old was she?
WILDER: When I lost her? Twenty-two or three.”
~Again, sorry for the complete randomness of it all, but does anyone have any ideas as to what happened?~

GuestHe’s not dead. I have The Producers on DVD (that movie started Wilder’s career) and it has an interview of him from just last year. Mor erecently, he heard about Tim and Johnny Depp’s Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and said he was fine with it. He realized that Tim’s would be a totally different movie than the one he was in and that it’s not a remake.

GuestThis is what Gene’s apparently up to right now…
“Gene Wilder is set to appear in the movie “Instant Karma” set to come out in 2005. About a safecracker who dies and is reincarnated as a series of animals, this comedy also stars Pierce Brosnan, Dom DeLuise, David Alan Grier, The Rock and Burt Reynolds. The film has only recently been given the green light, and Wilder’s role is undefined.”

GuestI saw him on some sitcom recently. I think it was Dharma and Greg or something. I can’t remember. but he looked a lot different…..and a lot older. either way, he’s alive and acting again.

GuestI think the sitcom was Will & Grace. I believe he won an Emmy for guest starring. (I am not 100% sure, sorry.)

GuestWow, well I’m pleased to hear he’s still around, but I’d like to see him do some more big projects. I think he’s a true treasure of movies… he has a distinctive eccentricity, much like Bill Murray, which he uses on-screen to incredible effect.
A toast to Gene Wilder!
