GuestI’m not sure if Danny’s ever won an Oscar for his fantastic scores. If he hasn’t it’s probably ‘cuz he’s always up against someone like John Williams or Howard Shore. Wake up, Academy! It’s time to recognize the best in the biz!

GuestDanny has never won. Why? Because the world is a horrible place, that’s why.

GuestThe fact that “Edward Scissorhands” OR “Batman” were not even NOMINATED shows that Hollywood HATES great artists.

GuestElfman has certainly assumed a place of respect with his peers — unfortunately his nominated scores have been up against mammoth blockbusters TITANIC and RETURN OF THE KING. There is, however, little logic behind MEN IN BLACK losing to THE FULL MONTY.

GuestIsn’t it a travesty when the some of the most brilliant people are recognized only when they are dead?

GuestYes, which means that I need to find an inventive method of suicide. Elmer’s glue and Hypercolor t-shirts? Yeah, those ideas were originally MINE. If only we’d had more developed intellectual property rights at that time…now THAT, my friends, is a travesty!

Guestto be honest, if james horner wins an oscar for TITANIC danny should have won oscars for most of his scores. it’s obviously that he’s more brilliant.
anyway, i think that danny doesn’t consider the oscar as important. he watches the spectacle with a little grin.April 15, 2004 at 7:52 pm #49524Anonymous
GuestI think his nomination for BIG FISH represents a turning point in his relationship with the Academy. He was the only person involved in the movie to be recognized and the score was not one of the overly thematic (in terms of grand, bombastic themes that hit you over the head) that the Academy seems to love.
