GuestI entered the contest on this website to win a copy of the “Hulk soundtrack”. The question was:
“Danny Elfman has written scores for the following movies. Which one is not based on a comic book? Batman, Batman Returns, Darkman, Spider-Man, or The Hulk?”
I checked online & saw that “Darkman” comics are sold on Ebay & other places. So I answered “Batman Returns”, becasue I’ve read a Batman, Hulk & Spider-Man comic before…but not a “Batman Returns” comic. The correct answer is “Darkman”. So I guess the comics came out AFTER the movie. (I should have checked the year the comics were made befpre I put my answer? Did any one else get confused by this, or am I the only one who made this mistake?August 5, 2003 at 4:34 pm #46105Anonymous
GuestI thought the question was quite easy! Of course, I phrased the question for the contest.
It’s obvious that anything with BATMAN in the title is based on a comic book. The characters Batman, Catwoman, The Penguin and Gotham City are all from the pages of the comic book.
DARKMAN was a creation by Sam Raimi – 1 part The Phantom of The Opera, 1 part Batman.
I was going to add DICK TRACY in there, but had already started the contest and figured the fewer choices the better.
If it’s any consolation, there were in excess of 1,000 entries (that’s a lot) so the chances of winning were that much smaller.
Now, does that make you feel better?

GuestDARKMAN is well worth it — in my opinion. It’s Sam Raimi doing Sam Raimi, rather than the restrained Raimi doing SPIDER-MAN.
I have an opportunity to run another HULK contest… Anyone interested?

GuestWhen you run a HULK contest, how can you award a different score as a prize?

GuestBtw, Darkman was created by Sam Raimi ’cause he couldn’t get the rights to Batman or The Shadow (a character whose film was scored by Jerry Goldsmith).

Guest“The Shadow” was a waste of time and should be remade with a little more attention to the original radio program. Sigh…
