GuestThis is only hypothetical and is not based on any information or rumors. If they were to make a theatrical feature film of The Simpsons, do you think Elfman should score the film?
Of course, the show wouldn’t be the same without Elfman’s theme, but Alf Clausen has scored the show for years and has done a damn fine job. So who do you think would be best suited to score the movie?

Guestalf clausen…..his work is just amazing ! It would be too cruel for him to give the job to Elfman !!
But, by the way, i just hope they won’t never do such a movie. I think the Simpsons only works on a 25 minutes-length. Make a movie from the tv-show would be a huge mistake in my own opinion…April 5, 2003 at 10:51 pm #44700Anonymous
Guesti think it’d be a riot, live action, or probably digital like they did in that halloween special, but if it is live action elfman shud definitley helm the project, just imagine the main title, and who wud play homer? james gandolfini, jason alexander? boggles the mind

GuestIf they make one, I’d imagine the producers would have the common sense to make it the same way they make the show. Animated with yellow characters.
Do you not remember Dennis the Menace? Scooby Doo? Josie and the Pussycats? The Flintstones? Rocky and Bullwinkle? In my opinion, it’s never a good idea to make a live action movie out of a cartoon. In fact, I feel the only movie based on a cartoon that had any quality whatsoever was South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, which was animated.
So if they’re going to make a movie out of the show, which is a bad idea anyway, they should not change any of the talent. Keep Danny’s theme, open the film with the opening credits sequence. Use Alf Clausen for the rest. Keep the same voice talents. Get the original voice actor who played Helen Lovejoy and Maude Flanders among others back.
But the movie would suck either way, probably, and this is coming from a big Simpsons fan. Futurama would probably translate better to screen, the humor is just as good (if not better than the Simpsons’ recent seasons), and it has a premise that could easily be stretched to film length. However, FOX cancelled Futurama in favor of such tried and true hits as American Idol, Who Wants to Marry A Multimillion Dollar Millionaire Who Has Lots of Money Or Maybe He Doesn’t?, and When Animals Attack Rollercoasters.
Where was I? Oh yes, if they do a film, Alf should do it.

GuestI think it would be a HUGE mistake to make a live-action Simpsons movie. Think about the characters: such a big part of how we think of them is how they SOUND! (Almost everyone has a favorite character to mimic the voice of.) Even if people who looked just like the animated characters were cast, it wouldn’t feel right to me without the actual voices. Animated, in my opinion, is the only way to go.
Incidentally, the episode “You Only Move Twice” had enough left-over material (that had to be cut to fit the half-hour time allotment), the producers realized later that they could have used it to make a full-length movie rather than a regular episode.
Oh yes, and Elfman: I’d love him to perhaps do an extended, full-blown version of the Simpsons theme for this hypothetical movie, but I would not be disappointed if Alf Clausen scored the rest.
From Simpsons Episode DABF13, “I Am Furious Yellow”:HOMER: We’re just rehearsing for “Angry Dad: the Motion Picture.”
BART: How’d you like to be played by John Goodman?
HOMER (choking Bart): That’s… so… obvious!! It should be… Gary Oldman!!April 5, 2003 at 11:53 pm #44703Anonymous
GuestHow about 3d Dreamworks/Shrek people? Or Chris Wedge

GuestElfman could score a KICK A$$!! Simpsons soundtrack. I’ll probably have a wet dream tonight just thinking about how the main titles could come out.

GuestWell, here is my idea if this ever came to be. Have Elfman do the Themes (Main Titles included) and have Alf do the rest. Have it be animated (any other way just wouldn’t work….AT ALL) with the original voice actors in the show. No 3D or anything like that because again, it just wouldn’t work (Unless they did just a bit of it for backgrounds like in SP). I acually thought that Josie and the Pussycats was a damn funny movie, but then again I never saw the cartoon so I don’t know how it was running before.
To be honest, I think if they where going to do a Simpsons movie, they would have LONG ago. They probably never will, concidering that it’s not exactly the most popular show anymore (at least not as much as it used to be).
Knight (Who acually got tired of the show 2 years ago)

GuestFor anyone interested, when the vocal cast for the Simpsons signed their last contract there was an obligation put in for a feature lengthed film, just some FYI.
Make of it what you will.

GuestI think they’ll end the series with a bang and make a feature lengthed movie of The Simpsons. They could pull it off and have it be faithful to the show. Just look at how the Southpark movie turned out.
Oh, yes, Robert. I’ll never die a happy man until I hear a 5 minute end credits suite of the Simpsons. Mmmmm … End Credits … ghalhglahgahglhaghaghaghagh.

GuestNah. A movie would be nice but it wouldn’t really be realistic in context with the SIMPSONS.
I think they need to do a one hour long SIMPSONS Halloween Special wherein DANNY “guest-composes”.
That would be sweet. The Elf-Man.
