GuestSo I’ve been looking for interviews with Elfman to answer a question I’ve had ever since the ‘Boingo’ disc came out. The opening passages of the first song, “Insanity”, contains the intro from “Madeleine’s Theme” from Bernard Herrmann’s score for “Vertigo”.
Has there been any written information on whether this was intentional or, perhaps, a subconscious tip-of-the-hat? In many interviews, Elfman has called Herrmann his favorite film music composer (even so far as to refer to him as his ‘Master’), so I’m not surprised this occurred. I was just wondering if this was ever acknowledged.

GuestLike they say, brilliant minds think alike … Or something like that.

GuestI agree with Dantz on this one, but I think Elfman might have been giving a “props to” kinda thing.
Knight (Who has yet to do that for Elfman)
