“Danny Elfman’s agent has confirmed to Music from the Movies that the popular composer has been hired to score The Corpse Bride, the dark animated fairytale produced by Tim Burton scheduled for release in October 2005. The film is based on an old Russian folk tale telling the story of a man who weds a corpse by mistake. The screenplay is being written by Caroline Thompson (of Edward Scissorhands fame) and Pamela Pettler. Directing the film is Mike Johnson, who previously worked as an animator on The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. Like both of those, The Corpse Bride will be created using stop-animation technique.Danny Elfman will also score Tim Burton’s next directorial effort, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, starring Johnny Depp. Coming first, however, is the eagerly anticipated Spider-Man 2, premiering on 30th June.”
NIce news indeed,

GuestI just about died when I read this…thank you for reporting it. I had an immense sense of hope that he would be involved in this film, but for some reason I just didn’t think it would come to pass. This is truly amazing…I’m speechless, and oh so happy…October 2005 is a long wait, but it will be more than worth it…

True… could have a few dodgy connotations, there – sounds like whoever wrote it might have little confidence in Tim!

GuestThe wait is far too long–but at least we know it’s getting made. The only thing that’d make that news better, would be if it said Danny would be writing and singing songs again!
