GuestAnyone been to Richard Elfman’s website as up late? It’s newly revamped, and features music from FORBIDDEN ZONE. It also has some great photos of Rick and Danny (some as little kids!)
He also reports some intereting news about Danny and Bridget Fonda. Ohhhhh, its so lovely….I wish I could call Barberrela – ‘mom’

GuestOf course I’m not Elfman’s big fan, neither only fan. I’m an enthusiast
of his work – that’s all.February 10, 2003 at 2:25 am #44051Anonymous

GuestWell, I’m a huge fan. And I’d have to say this is more interesting than your last week’s defecation.

GuestI didn’t get to see the pictures. The second page’s flash animation was going to take over 15 mins. to load.

GuestYeah, it did take quite awhile to load–but it was worth it. I mean, I didn’t spend hours there, or anything, but it does have some pretty snazzy features and all–and way better graphics than the old site!

GuestJust because I want to say something…
Rather…point something out…to the person that carped about the photos post…
Just because some people are interested in photos or personal news doesn’t mean they are any more or less “fan” than any other person, or that they care about style over substance (with say like–Britney Spears[barf]) nor does it mean that anyone who likes photos or non-career news a wishy-washy obsessed stalker fan (but yes, some might be)
ANYWAYS…from my point of view… I like to see, read, hear stuff about successful and/or famous people from their past and/or personal life NOT BECAUSE I’M PSYCHO but because I know that everything that has happened to them has shaped what they have become. Their childhood interests, family stuff, school accomplishments (or lack thereof). It’s very interesting to see similarities in some people, and the down and out unique things that have caused them to create the things they do.
BECAUSE the guy that said “All that matters is the music of his …” can’t say he doesn’t want to hear about Danny’s personal stories about the year in Africa that has more than shaped his musical style. OR his relationship with his brother and how it affects their collaborations in movies. OR I guess he’d rather not see or hear anything about how Tim and Danny became friends and working partners.
YEAH, I can sit and talk just about his music for hours–but I also want to see and hear where it came from…all the experiences that formed a personality that led to ideas that ended up being a fantastic piece of work.
I’m sorry–I cannot take a piece of work just as it is–the final product. I am just as interested in the process of making the person as well as how the person makes the work, even if it means going ALL the way back to childhood and some goofy pictures of two close, goofy, red-headed brothers. It all matters. It’s all a part of the process.Jo the yes I know I type a lot Elfgirl
Besides–don’t History books of any kind (political, art, music, whatever) also print stuff about people’s personal lives and not just their professional accomplishments? You have to know where a person came from to know why they ended up where they did…

GuestIt’s the Hanz Pfitzner argument then?
I find the separation issue fascinating, but not paramount to enjoy the music – i.e. sometimes it can distract the listener.

GuestAll this discussion over photos. Feeeewwwww….
Cause I said that Danny was going to call Jane Fonda – ‘Mom’. Glad no one pointed out my mistake. I of course meant Aunty Jane. Hope we’re at least invited to the reception……
