Ok I know everyone assumes that he is scoring the sequel, but has either Sam Raimi or the Producers or anyone involved with the movie actually said it? Has is been officially confirmed. I want official confirmation, I wont be happy untill It’s official that he is scoring it. I want to hear him take the thematic material from the first film and develop it. I want a great theme for Doc Ock and I want to hear the Spider-Man theme be more prominent.

Im also a little concerned. There has been alot of talk of contempereary bands and songs that might be in the film. Im not a big fan of most popular contemperary music. I loved how the first film was devoid of songs it was all great thematic musical score. I dont have a problem with contempereary music as source music like the character is listening to a radio or they are at a concert, Like Macy Gray in Spider-Man 1. Other than that I dont like contemperary music on this movie, unless the song is actually part of the score, like the actual song was done by Elfman and he works the melody into the score, then it’s all good.

Hopefully all this contempereary bands and song talk is the same as it was with the first film and they have some stupid Soundtrack Album that has a whole bunch of bands and contemperary music artists doing songs that wont actually be on the film score.

I hear U2 is doing a song, much like”Hero” from the first film, Hopefully it will only be played at the end credits after 3 minutes of Elfman’ End credit score.

I remember reading Danny’s name on the official website, let me check…

    Yup, http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/
Point to “The Movies” then click on cast & filmmakers, then click “Full credits”, there’s his name on the bottom

Yep, Elfman is indeed scoring the movie. As far as competing with songs go, I wouldn’t worry too much. Sam Raimi has said — both of his movies with Elfman and with others — that he much perfers score to songs. With SPIDER-MAN he was probably under pressure to sneak a few in here and there to help promote the soundtrack album, an important part of any big summer movie marketing campaign, but as you pointed out, there really weren’t that many in the finished film.

in the interview he did for kusc radio back on jan. 15th, elfman said he’d begin scoring spider man 2 in two weeks… so he’s probably up to his eyeballs in it even as we speak…

wonder what danny’ll do for the sequel. ye see he didnt give himself the strongest theme to work with. maybe he’s got a plan, but his theme’s for spiderman dont seem too open for development.

I think there’s a lot to work with in the Spider-Man theme. He talked on the DVD about the themes he created, and I think they can easily be built upon. I cannot wait to hear the Doc Ock theme! Actually, I put up a post about when Danny will be recording the score over at the official Spider-Man site where Gran Curtis, the co-producer, has been blogging and answering these posts. I mentioned that I would like to relay the info over to this site, and any info would make us all happy. As for Raimi putting real songs into the movie…YEAH RIGHT! We don’t want to see something like Daredevil. The score for the first movie was nominated for a Grammy! It was a good score, and Danny will surely give us another good one.

Stupid Question – Does anyone know what the Theme For doc ock will sound like. Cuz the Green Goblins theme is like A,C,E,F#,D,D#,C#,C#,D,G,A#,A#,A,F,G,G# – thats all in the same octave by the way and i hope the doc ock theme is very simple yet muscular and dramatic, much like the planet of the apes theme(s).
