GuestOnce again, swiss people like me are lucky!!!
I don’t know how it is possible, but the american Big Fish dvd just arrived yesterday in my favourite dvd store, one week too early. It was quite expansive (30$) because it’s an import.
Anyway, the dvd is awesome. It has a fantastic commentary by Tim Burton. I haven’t had the time to watch the other bonus yet, but it seems like there’s nothing about the score.
Another great thing is that on the top right of the front cover, it’s written in big ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE: BEST SCORE: DANNY ELFMAN !!!!And that makes me soooooo happy!

GuestYeah. Does Tim Burton have any say on the DVD features? You are too lucky to get it early, I’ve been waiting for ages!

GuestThere’s a “special edition” of everything. I guess we’ll get one of those someday.

GuestI got a hold of the DVD today (I have a friend who works at Blockbuster), and I’m listening to the commentary right now.
The commentary is right on par with Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. It’s enjoyable due to Burton having someone to talk with, and thank goodness, Burton is chatty. As opposed to the minutes upon minutes of dead air we got from Planet of the Apes.
I felt the supplemental material was somewhat under produced, sadly. Adequate documentary material was apparently shot, we see it in small snippets throughout the DVD, but the featurette’s was mostly fluff — the John August featurette notwithstanding.
Danny Elfman does have a short cameo in the Burton featurette. For a tragically-short seven seconds, we see Danny at the score sessions in London.
We also see an aging Steve Bartek (I almost didn’t recognize him) next to the stressed out composer, and the wildly gesturing director.
