i just noticed that i have posted here before today! wow…i don’t even remember posting! i must’ve been in a hurry and surfin’ the web…wow…brain relapse.

well, it seems like pretty much everyone who posts here is new, except for a few. oh well….brain farts happen!

and just to mention it, i bought my first elfman score a couple weeks ago….big fish is outstanding. i was pissed to see that it didn’t win any golden globe awards (on elfman AND burton’s part). i really didn’t like the lord of the rings. highly overrated and known only for its geography and cgi. to me the trilogy was seven hours of walking and talking with a little bits intense action. i was kind of bored with it all.

big fish the score sure had a sound of it’s own…very relaxing music and very narrative also. the love theme was short and simple and nice. it was magical, real, and exciting all at the same time. the bass guitar and violin and piano trio is such a beautiful mix of tones and voices and almost lamenting…in a very good, emotional kind of way!

well, school’s out in five, so i should go. sorry if i tend to be too wordy on my topics…i hate leaving things out for some reason and i’m sure it annoys a good few of you! but hey – no one is forcing you to read what i have to say! so bother!

    jk!

I must agree with The J. Upon listening to BIg Fish for the first time, the first thing that popped into my head was Thomas Newman.

Being wordy doesn’t doesn’t drive me nuts, but not capitalizing “i” when referring to oneself does. Words cannot describe how much I hate that.

I bought it the other day and like everyone else, I though Thomas Newman when I heard it. Funny, usually when I hear an Elfman score I think Elfman…

I think I kinda get a little edge, what with Danny being the only composer I pay attention to and all–what with it making his compositions all the more saucy and such.

I mean, it’s not like I recognize this certain piece sounds like that certain piece and so on. And, I kinda like it that way. Figure I know about writing and drawing, so it’s nice to have something where you don’t have to know the formalities.

(Granted, this makes me very ignorant on the subject and all, but figure I could pick a worse composer to follow, you dig? So, I suppose I’ve a bit of common sense left).
