Ok, well totally off-topic. But since you guys are really the only people I talk to that are as big of film fans as I am, I just have to express my excitement.

Every single one of my favorite directors is coming out with a new movie. It’s just an amzing time right now for me. Too much good stuff is coming my way.

    Tim Burton- Big Fish
    Coen Bros.- Intolerable Cruelty
    Quentin Tarantino- Kill Bill
    Kevin Smith- Jersey Girl
    Peter Jackson- you know

These are my idols. And I’ll be seeing something new from each and every one of them within the next 6 months. And another cool thing is that none of them are sequelsor remakes (except for LOTR, but that’s ok), and we all know that most of the movies coming out lately are. Anyway, delete my post if needed, but I’m excited!!

    I do Ryan!

    :)

Incidentally I just visited Red Bank, NJ on my way to NYC last week, and was surprised when shopping at Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash that who should check me out, but Fan Boy himself.

I just had to get me a Buddy Christ!

P.S. Wow Sleepy, that would be my list too for my most highly anticipated movies to end 2003! (actually Kill Bill would be two movies)

(Underworld. It’s all about Underworld. Sauciness–yah)! I’m lookin’ forward to Big Fish, of course, but the other movies don’t appeal. (Keep in mind, I often have questionable taste).

Underworld was the comedy event of the year! I laughed my buns off…too bad it wasn’t supposed to be funny.

That’s a pretty good list there, Sleepy. I’d throw Spider-Man 2 on there also, though that’s a bit more than 6 months away.

Like I said, I often have questionable taste. (Hey, at least I have the decency to admit it)! I laugh at movies you aren’t supposed to laugh at, too. Henceforth, my friends have given up on dragging me to any form of the dreaded “chick flick”. (Is it wrong to laugh when the lover dies? No, no it is not)!

I really wanted to put the new Woody Allen on there, too, but I wasn’t sure if I would look dumb or not. What can I say? I think Woody Allen is a genius (for the most part).

Woody Allen = THE best writer of witty dialogue in the business.

New Woody Allen? What is it?

Anything Else is the title and it stars Jason Biggs and Christina Ricci. At IMDB it list Diana Krall being in it playing herself – can’t wait to see it now (after all Allen is a pretty big Jazz fan as well as a performer/composer himself).

I’ve always liked Annie Hall, but couldn’t get into any other Woody Allen movie. For me, the best witty film dialogue is the ad slogan for Jaguars in “Crazy People.” Second best is the Oliver Peoples reference in “American Psycho.”

-E (“Volvos, boxy but safe.” I won’t get into the Jaguar slogan, suffice to say that it really is the best luxury car slogan I’ve EVER heard)

I have great difficulty separating Woody Allen the man from Woody Allen the writer/director. As far as his work goes, when he’s at his best, nobody can touch him. Check out Annie Hall, Purple Rose of Cairo, Manhattan, etc. Witty, intelligent and FUNNY movies. But the man himself is a cradle-robbing *******, period.

And E, you’re right about the Jaguar slogan in Crazy People. Talk about hitting the nail on the head…

Clarinet. If you’re interested in his playing, check out the documentary “Wild Man Blues. It’s about a tour of Europe he did with his band, who play pre-swing jazz (ie ragtime), and it’s a pretty good flick. Some people have called it the best Woody Allen movie in years, even though it’s not actually his.

Way out there? I’d kill to live within a 24-hour drive of the ocean! All I have is acres of corn, soybeans and lots of cattle. No marine life or sandy beaches here! Now that I think about it, the island was much better than I gave it credit for… “don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got ’till it’s gone…”
