MV updated his FSM avatar and it has the unmistakable spiralled helmet from Burton’s POTA.
January 25, 2012 at 11:13 pm #67330adminParticipantLooks like it. But who’s wearing the helmet?
January 25, 2012 at 11:37 pm #67331ddddeeeeParticipantIt’s MV himself apparently. I thought the 90’s lush, romantic score they were talking about was going to be Sommersby though.
January 26, 2012 at 8:39 am #67332DannyBikerParticipantSo releases are announced through avatars now ?
January 28, 2012 at 3:01 am #67333NatreboParticipantLaLaLand Records usually has a new avatar appear on FSM forums every now and then that is a hint to a future release… this is not the first time.

STARTS SHIPPING FEB 14
RETAIL PRICE $29.98La-La Land Records, 20th Century Fox and Sony Music present the remastered and expanded version of acclaimed composer Danny Elfman’s (BATMAN, BATMAN RETURNS, MARS ATTACKS!, WANTED, ALICE IN WONDERLAND) thunderous original score to Twentieth Century Fox’s 2001 blockbuster sci-fi adventure PLANET OF THE APES, starring Mark Wahlberg, Tim Roth, Helena Bonham Carter and Michael Clarke Duncan, and directed by Tim Burton. The now legendary pairing of director Tim Burton and Danny Elfman again yields an immensely creative and complex film score that melds orchestra, percussion and electronics to enrich the film’s subtext and characters, all the while propelling its large-scale action. Featuring OVER 212 MINUTES of music, this comprehensive 3-CD SET set is the definitive release of Elfman’s APES score – Discs One and Two contain the film version of the score, with source cues and alternates, while Disc Three features the original 2001 soundtrack album assembly, including the RULE THE PLANET remix by Paul Oakenfold. Produced by Nick Redman, restored by Mike Matessino and edited and mastered by Daniel Hersch at d2 Mastering, this significantly expanded limited edition release of 3500 units also features exclusive liner notes by film music writer Jeff Bond.

February 14, 2012 at 9:20 pm #67377ddddeeeeParticipantAnd here are the samples.
http://www.lalalandrecords.com/Apes.html
Hopefully there’s another LLL Elfman release this year. They’re churning these out quick.
February 15, 2012 at 12:22 pm #67380bookbinder3ParticipantThe sample for the Main Titles is definitely the album version, not the film version, isn’t it? Hope it’s just a mix up with the samples.
February 15, 2012 at 1:42 pm #67381DannyBikerParticipantWell, the part the sample is taken from is very much similar in the soundtrack and in the film. Differences occur after 2/3rd of the track…
I’ll wait two weeks to see if LLL will announce Hook in order to order both.
February 15, 2012 at 4:40 pm #67382bookbinder3ParticipantThey’re not similar. The film version doesn’t have the any of the initial string beats (though that might be a film edit) or the synth at the end of the first ascending horn theme, and the album version doesn’t have the pan pipes that echo the horn theme. Go compare them. They’re completely different.
*Currently being discussed on the FSM board. Still not sure what that main title track will be. They say the pan pipes were tracked in during the dub, but the rest of the track under and around those pan pipes is different too. Guess i’ll find out.
February 19, 2012 at 7:07 pm #67386Ryan KeaveneyKeymasterLooks like the APES complete score discs I got back in 2001 — with the film main titles, etc — are still worth something
