GuestCan someone tell me, did Danny intend this to be a stage musical or a film musical? Actually, anything anyone can tell me about this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

GuestAlso, does anyone know if Danny has done/is planning a broadway show other than NMBC (which seems to have stalled, as the only info I can find is dated 2001). I considered adapting it for the stage, but as I see it it would require at very least an almost complete re-orchestration – the score is for massive(!!) orchestra, and it would be near-impossible to fit that into a theatre pit.
I hope danny does do a musical for the stage… I can see it being great.

GuestIt was intended to be a film musical directed by himself. Disney didn’t like the idea , so it will never be made. As for another broadway musical idea, I sure as hell hope not!! I think Edward Scissorhands is being made into one, though.

GuestInteresting. I’m sure it will be good.
Well, Broadway only sucks when the authors do, and if Danny’s at the helm of the score, I’d pay to see it, and probably several times.

GuestEdward Scissorhands stageshow!?… That thought never occured to me. THat could be really interesting, actually. If it does happen, I hope it’s good enough – It’s too easy to tarnish a legend like that. hehe – we’ll be hearing of a sequel directed by Peter Jackson, next! (oh my god… I can’t believe what I’ve just said! Blaphemy of the highest level! My deepest apologies!)
>¦:oO …..AAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

GuestAt first Danny wasn’t planning on directing Little Demons himself, just Julian, then he started having second thoughts. From what I heard, someone who worked at Disney asked him to write Little Demons, but then they left Disney for another studio company and LD got bounced from one studio to another and was eventually shelved. As far as I’ve heard it’s still not going anywhere. As for Edward Scissorhands, he was planning to adapt the score into a ballet, but I have no idea what became of that.

GuestBy the way, my rant was Pro-Edward Scissorhands and Anti-Peter Jackson Sequel. Just wanted to clarify that.

GuestI fully understand… anyway, even if Burton would direct it, there still shouldn’t be a sequel – there’s no such thing as “fairytale… 2”. So, there.

GuestThere’s no reason for there to be a sequel. It’s like NIGHTMARE or BEETLEJUICE; the stories are perfect and complete as they are. That’s why they’re so great. They have so much content, art, emotion, style, and material in them as they are. They don’t need an add on or a remake. They’re simply perfect.
