GuestLalo Schifrin composed the original Mission Impossible theme, for the television show of that name that started way back in the 60s, I believe. Anyway, it was before Danny’s time as a composer.

Guestummm…that would be all the music that you hear in the movie, except for the original theme. could you imagine the original theme playing fo the entire movie? you need other music to fill the rest of the movie, with the theme every now and then, and that’s what danny elfman wrote for Mission Impossible

GuestElfman also used a secondly theme from the TV series. In the beginning of the film at Prague, before everything hits the fan.
