I heard somewhere that Tim Burton was originally going to direct the 1995 movie Mary Reilly. Is this true?
I think it would have made an excellent Tim Burton film, not that Stephen Frears did such a bad job. It wasn’t that bad of a movie, but Burton would have made it a masterpiece.
There are moments in George Fenton’s score that are somewhat Elfman-esque. I’m not much of a fan of George Fenton, but Mary Reilly is one of his better works.
I have a hard time getting through this score… Really slow. It’s no wonder Fenton’s INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE was replaced by something a little more lively.

I guess I’ve never heard it by itself. But it sounded good in the film.
I like Helena Bonham Carter. Lisa Marie was good in the parts she was in, but she gives me the creeps.
So does Christina Ricci.
They give you the creeps? I’d consider that a good thing…
