GuestOkay, so Danny Elfman is 100% confirmed to score THE HULK. I’ve also learned that orchestrator Robert Elhai, who has worked with Elliot Goldenthal, Michael Kamen and James Newton Howard, has been hired to orchestrate THE HULK, presumably along with Steve Bartek and the regulars.

GuestI believe the film’s official title is THE HULK, but most promotional materials just use HULK, like X-MEN 2 used X2, etc.

Guestwhere did u find out this official confirmation ryan

GuestRobert, you dummy. Ryan is Elfman. Everyone knows that.
Of course, I know Ryan’s not Elfman. But that doesn’t mean Robert, or anyone else, has to know.

The Dantz (Don’t mind me. It’s late, and I’m being a silly-whopper [whatever the heck that means]).

GuestAt the one hand: It’s cool to hear a new Elfman superhero score. But at the other hand: I was very interesting in hearing Mychael Danna’s score for THE HULK.
By the way: I am more interested in hearing Danny’s new score for BIG FISH. I think that will be an awesome score!

Konsti ( who ask himself, if Danny will compose the music for SUPERMAN )

GuestWell Konsti, to answer your existential self-thoughts, so far there’s no SUPERMAN anymore, as much as I’ve heard.
Or maybe I’m wrong. But I do believe that Rattner’s flee from the project means SUPERMAN’s very collapse. Maybe is it still on despite Rattner’s departure (which would be an awesome news), but I strongly doubt it.
As for HULK… One word : YIPPIE !!! More Elfman to listen to ! Who could possibly have an _objection_ to this ?

Guestwhen I saw Daredevil, I cudnt wait to leave the theater, hearing a non-elfman superhero score is like watching a Walter Matthau movie w/out Jack Lemmon, they just belong together, R.I.P fellas

Guest“Who could possibly have an _objection_ to this ?”
…me. I’m not a real big fan of “the hulk”. In fact, I always thought the big green giant was really lame looking. I mean, look at him. He’s green. Very green. Who likes that?
Anyway, in all seriousness, I thought Elfman said he wasn’t going to do any more action scores. I was sorta’ looking forward to that…

GuestI heard he was always talking about retiring

GuestRyan, I suddenly have a doubt about it… Is your Hulk-elfman story a joke for April 1st???? Or is it truely real????

GuestNo, the news went down last week. And it’s all legit!

GuestWell Im looking forward to this score, When I heard that this Mychael Danna I was like ok, but then I took a look at his body of work and needless tosay I was disapointed.
All his scores are low key, subtle, atmospheric , themeless scores and well Im not a huge fan of these types of scores. Sue me, but I like my scores to be distinct and bombastic and thematic.
Danny Elfman will give this movie the kind of score that I like. As oppose to someone whos reputation for a thematic action score is unknown.
And thats all I have to say

GuestRonald C, listen to “Ride With The Devil” – it is another side of Danna’s output, and it was for Ang Lee no less.
I say Go Elfman!, but it would have been interesting to hear Danna’s take on the subject at hand – less commercial, more likely why he was replaced, and that’s a shame. Not to say that Elfman is commercial, its just that he is more bankable at the moment. Of Ang Lee’s previous films the ones that have made the most money have not been scored by his most regular collaborator Mychael Danna (i.e. Sense and Sensibility & Crouching Tiger…), and maybe that had something to do with it.
Whatever the reason, I say enjoy the Elfman and mourn what could have been.
