GuestI’ve heard before that Elfman has been mentioned and noted on the awesome show Mystery Science Theatre 3000, but I don’t remember which episodes he was mentioned in. I think I remember one time where I read a reply on these boards about a time where the MST3K crew made up a set of credits on their own, and Elfman’s name was mentioned…I think it might have been either Pod People or Cave Dwellers. Can someone clear me up on this, so I can go buy the VHS or DVD of the episode? I also heard that Elfman was mentioned in other episodes as well…does anyone know which ones? I am an avid MST’ie, and just the fact that two of my all-time obsessions are connnected has really gotten me intrigued to watch these episodes…*chuckles*
If noone knows what I’m talking about, don’t worry – not many people do know about MST3K…*sighs*
Cheers,

GuestI know about that show, it’s one of the funniest shows to have ever been on TV! Mike Nelson is one funny guy, and the wisecracks they have for these movies are sooooo hilarious. It’s what every witty filmmaker (such as myself) wishes never came on TV so that they can make one themself and not have it considered to be a carbon copy. I have’t seen the one where they mention Danny Elfman, but you don’t really need to go as far as buying the video/DVD to hear it…just picture it in your mind…

Guest“a time where the MST3K crew made up a set of credits on their own”
During the first movie break of Cave Dwellers (#301), Joel and the bots perform a version of the film’s opening credit sequence. The credit for “Music by:” is “Danny Elfman – again!” This is funny but I don’t recommend buying the episode only for this joke (as an Elfmaniac); buy the episode because it is a laughably, horrible movie (as a MiSTie).
MST3K rocks! The writers are the best.

GuestYou beat me to it!
It was Cave Dwellers (#301) One of my favorite episodes.
And yes, MST3K rocks!

GuestI wouldn’t buy the episode just for that single comment – I’m much too big a MST’ie for that. Sorry if I came out that way. I just thought it would be cool to see it, and since no more episodes are being shown (unless there are some that I don’t know about…*glares and looks around suspiciously*), I would probably have to buy it.

GuestHere are the episodes I remember…
The Magical Voyage of Sinbad (mentions Oingo Boingo too)
Santa Clause
The Final Sacrifice (extremely good one–Tom sings a song about him)
Rocket Attack USA
Pod People
Cave DwellersApril 4, 2004 at 4:18 am #49319Anonymous
GuestIn response to Dawg Man’s list:
Hold on a moment…I own The Final Sacrifice on VHS (I taped it off of TV), and I do remember Tom singing, but he sang about Canada. I don’t have the end of this episode, but out of the information files I’ve read, this is the only song that Mike and the ‘Bots sing (apart from the one at the movie credits about Rowsdower)…was there something in either songs about Elfman that I’ve missed? I want to know, so I can search for it! *chuckles and smiles*
Thanks for the list, by the way! I’ll have to look into those!
Cheers,

GuestDuring the credits of ‘The Final Sacrifice’, Tom Servo starts singing along to the music. He asks Mike and Crow to sing along but is not satisfied with what they have to offer. He takes over… “This just sounds like Danny Elfman, Danny Elfman, Danny Elfman/ He’s the father of Jenna Elfman, Jenna Elfman, Jenna Elfman…” Mike and Crow talk amongst themselves as Servo keeps singing. Eventually, Servo is left alone in the theater.
Very funny, even if the facts aren’t correct.
I hope this helps. And might I add a hearty “Rowsdower”!

GuestWow, your post was written over 30 years ago!! :p
“And might I add a hearty “Rowsdower”!”
HAHAH!! I loved that one! I saw that one, acutally, but I didn’t know they were singing HIS name. It kinda’ sounded like it, but I wasn’t sure. Heh, that’s kind of odd.

>And might I add a hearty “Rowsdower”!< *laughs* Oh yeah, that was good!

*goes off singing ‘Rowsdower, Rowsdower, rows-a-rows-a-Rowsdower…’*
You have helped a lot! My many many thanks!
