GuestI am amazed by Danny Elfman’s music. Is there any word on if or when a 3rd Volume of the Music for a Darkened Theatre will be available?

GuestThe official word is, “we’re working on it.” Though the album is late, in contrast to the two pervious releases – every six years is it? Maybe they’re having copyright problems.

Guesttaht seems to be the stock answer for many Elfman projects. The solo non-score album, the scripting, the directing…
I’ve learned not to hold my breath.

GuestPutting together an album like MFADT has to be very difficult. There are rights issues to think about. A SIMPLE PLAN was released on Chapter III Records, but they’re now defunct. So if you’re producing MFADT 3, who do you go to to inquire about the rights to ASP? This is just one of many considerations to make.
My advice to anyone hankering for Vol. 3 — just buy the regular OSTs and enjoy ’em until 3 and the goodies come along

I already have everything, except for the miscellaneous stuff (like the commercial and Internet stuff).
At Bestbuy a week or so ago, a found four Nightmare scores – new. I was thinking about getting one, maybe for a surprise gift for someone who doesn’t already have it.

GuestDisney just rereleased a remastered Nightmare about a year ago that I still see in stores running about the $13 mark (a bargain at that price I might add).

GuestI think there is plenty that he can put on a 3rd volume:
1) TV Themes “Sledgehammer” (one of his best), “Dilbert” and “Fast Times”
2) Music from “Men in Black”, “The Frighteners”, “Red Dragon”, “Chicago”, “Sleepy Hollow”, “The Hulk”, etc.
3) I’d SWEAR that the Scott Tissue commercials and Walgreen’s use his musicFor those that say, “just buy the soundtrack albums” or “there’s really nothing new since Volume 2” are nuts.
There is PLENTY of fodder for the 3rd and even a 4th(!) album.
