ParticipantSo, I snagged the NACHO LIBRE soundtrack. To those who did not hear the Ramses Suite on the MySpace Page, it contains an annoying segment of dialog over Elfman’s only 3 minute representation on the CD.
Beck’s music, in contrast, is nearly double on the disc and about half as good. Judging from what I hear, I can see why Paramount hired Elfman to replace it. The two tones are so radically different. That is, of course, based on what I can hear on the CD.
All in all, it’s a shame there is not much for Elfman on the disc, but oh well, I love Mr. Loco’s Religious Man.

ParticipantYeah, the whole deal with Elfman being replaced was dumb. Hess probably expected Oingo Boingo Danny Elfman instead of Composer Danny Elfman. I can understand how the CD people thought that the Ramses suite would summarize Danny’s work on the movie, but the best moments came from variations on the theme or some of the shorter tracks (“Super Nacho” still being my favorite among them).

ParticipantCorrection Spider-Fan:
It was Elfman who replaced Beck, and not the other way around….
Lakeshore Records has a good track record with composers, but I think the audience for this album is different than your usual film score soundtrack.I believe Paramount liked Elfman’s score, though I did read a press release last summer from the studio saying that there were no plans for a CD.

ParticipantSorry, I meant that Elfman’s music was replaced with the music that he replaced in the first place. Whew, that’s tricky.

ParticipantWhat’s with the title of the topic? I highly doubt Nacho is Elfman’s best CD since it’s only got one track with his stuff on it. ???

ParticipantYes, that is me being clever. With all of Ryan’s cunning quips, it’s tough to maintain your footing in cyberspace…
