Participanthey all you elfman fans. MY GOD! this man’s music is fantastic. i have been reading all the forums on why elfman is regarded by everyone as being so great and for me just one of the main reasons is his title sequence themes; the new main titles for CATCF are amazing! i got into elfman through spider-man and now own the spiderman scores, batman, nightmare before christmas, edward scissorhands and red dragon. i want to know from all you experts what i should get next, i want to expand my collection… also, what scores got you into elfman too??? thanks.

ParticipantMission : Impossible is still for me one of his most brilliant and clever score. I found it at 1 € today in a store and bought it again, just in case ! For the rest, everything he wrote for Burton is a marvel.
I’ve been a fan since Beetlejuice’s Main Title. The luminous town covered with that crazy-dark music always spoke to me in a very subconscious way…
Oh and : Welcome !

Participanti liked the mission impossible stuff, especially the train sequence.
although i didn’t think much of the planet of the apes film some of that stuff really blew me away!
his stuff for tim burton does seem the most instantly appealing: i guess that speaks for itself.thanks for the help.
where’d you get that album from so cheap???
davidssnake.
nice big fish reference for the name – shame mine was a Metal Gear Solid one before i had a chance to think about it – D’oh!

ParticipantI too got into Danny’s music after Spider-Man. Funny what that score does to people! Anyways some of my favorites are Sleepy Hollow, Men in Black, Batman Returns, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

ParticipantEver since those first 4 notes of the Batman Main Title, I was hooked. But Edward Scissorhands is my favorite.
I own Batman, Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, Red Dragon, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Dolores Claiborne, and Sleepy Hollow.

ParticipantIt’s nice to see someone elses realization of this man’s talent. He is far far farrr too underappreciated; not only in his craft, but by movie goers everywhere. Musically, he wraps my brain up in knots trying to understand everything and every note… but then you listen to it over and over, and you just get it. He’s… he’s like the Willy Wonka of music: kinda creepy, but limitless in talent and creativity!

ParticipantWell basically, you should get all his scores for the Tim Burton movies! And i mean ALL of the them! Also if you can find it, and i think you can, i liked his score for Dick Tracy! My list of Elfman CD’s include Batman, Batman Returns, Nightmare before Christmas, Pee-Wees big adventure/Back to school, Mars Attacks, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Beetle Juice, Planet of the Apes, Big Fish, The Hulk, Spiderman, Spiderman 2, Dick Tracy, Mission:Impossible, Men in black 2, Red Dragon, and i think thats it! he score that got me into him was, of course, Batman! Welcome to the club man!

ParticipantHey thanks everyone! Good advice. i must admit though, his main titles to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of the most addictive things I have ever heard; can’t get it off my cd player.

ParticipantCharlie And The Chocolate Factory! Ok yea I’m a new fan too. Two friends from work and I went to see Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and I just loved the music for it. Went right out and brought it. Then my friend told me to get Nightmare Before Christmas and I did and well I love it too! My friend is a big Danny Elfman/Tim Burdon fan. Can’t just not stoping play Charlie and Nightmare. Can’t wait til I can get both on DVD and then well I probably not be seen again…
I can’t wait to see Corpse Bride, I think the three of us are going to see that one too and from the mp3 I listen to I think there is another soundtrack to buy in my future.. ;0)
