New expansions

MV from Lalaland records said today that there are more Elfman releases planned apart from Midnight Run (which he estimated they’d release next year). Previously he’s mentioned that he’d love to release Dolores Claiborne; but, that’s Varese territory. He also mentioned that he probably wouldn’t do any more Burton scores after the box-set. He also alluded to Spider-Man 2 (and 3) as being incredibly difficult scores to release.

Darkman and Nightbreed strike me as Intrada territory; they’ve done a great job of Edward Scissorhands and Dick Tracy so I’d love for those scores to get the same treatment.

That leaves us with what? Mission: Impossible seems the most probable to me.

My body is so ready for a Mission:Impossible release. Easily in my Elfman Top 5.

If we were to get an official release of The Family Man and expanded releases for Darkman, Nightbreed, Dolores Claiborne and Mission: Impossible, I’d be completely content. Elfman has been well represented on CD I think. Although, an offically expanded Spider-Man (with the film version of ‘The Final Confrontation’) would be nice too.

Lalaland confirmed on Facebook that they’re releasing another Elfman this year.

What are the scores the haven’t been released?

Well, many things that haven’t been released are scores that are too short to get a proper CD release.
I’m talking about short films, commercials, theme park rides, concert works, tv themes or even movies he’s only partially scored (main themes).
In some cases, like Chicago or Anywhere but here, there’s not much more than the main theme that’s already on the song-soundtrack.

Other than that, I don’t see many films with full-length unreleased scores…

I actually see WAAAAYYYY more unreleased Oingo Boingo stuff than film scores 😉
